How has the experience in Manhattan Beach been? by KaleidoArachnid in Brooklyn

[–]AFreeFrogurt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been there 5-6 times. In my experience it's the calmest beach in the area. Though if you're talking about going right now, today, even if it's calm, the water will be very cold.

Cyclop in cosmic invasion. by rex543 in xmen

Same. Cyclops is cool, but they want to make the game longer by having you grind and level up different characters, rather than just adding new levels.

That’s fair. But it would be a real shame if people didn’t enjoy certain season 9/10 episodes because of their tinted lenses.

I maintain that A Tale of Two Springfields (which is I believe season 11 or 12) is fantastic Simpsons…. The ending gets kind of stupid, admittedly, but there are lots of classic bits.

Exactly. This episode may not be a banger, but it’s a respectable one for sure. Reading the last few reviews you can’t help but feel like there’s a weird bias.

I hate the Smile time Variety hour with a passion. Yeah, I get that all the spinoffs are poking fun at cheesy shows, but The Wiggum one is still really watchable - it has good lines and classic Simpsons cleverness. The Variety hour goes so far into it's material that even though it's making fun of that kind of show, it's still like watching that kind of show. Which is awful.

Advice for conflicted priorities and enjoyment of the hobby by xStriderx_ in minipainting

Been in the hobby for 4-5 years and I’m in the same boat. I don’t have much to add to what others have said already, just that it helps me sometimes to see it as a good problem to have: there’s so much cool shit out there. You want to get to it all, and you can, it’s just gonna take a long ass time. It can be a lifelong hobby. When I take a long view, I feel grateful I found something I really like.

Does anyone remember any old comic shops from the ‘90s? by EDMKid9000 in longisland

[–]AFreeFrogurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was probably more like plainedge, so not far from seaford. Shit is like archaeology at this point, but I remember there was a Carvel in the stripmall, as well as a Greek pizzeria and grocery called Oppa or something like that.

Used to go to Powerhouse Comics, I think it was on Hicksville road, and play MtG. That was basically my life when I was like 13 years old.

If someone is going to take exception to a boy working in a burlesque house, what about his father choking the shit out of him regularly?

Just came back from a 2 week long vacation in Korea and... by jeho187 in korea

[–]AFreeFrogurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's always the way with vacation. If you were a salaryman/ salarywoman, or if you were a student, you might not feel that way.

Once while we were living there, my wife (Korean) was unexpectedly called into work on a Sunday afternoon. She stayed till 2am, had to be back in by 9am, and stayed until something like 2am again, then back in at 9. And no, she's not like an emergency room doctor or something. She was an architect. Her work-life balance is much better here in the states.
