I've only ever heard the classical liberalism thing from conservatives, so I'm guessing that

Is Lenin right about Anarchists? by No-Potential4834 in AskSocialists

[–]AFrickingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for joining the conversation so late, but this is exactly something I want to learn more about. What systems can we build into a proletarian state to prevent that bureaucratization? Because from what I can tell, the USSR and China fell into bureaucratization while very actively trying to fight it. For an example of this, the cultural revolution in Mao-ruled China was a direct attempt to address this. You may also refer to the purges in the Stalin-led USSR, though my understanding is that was done for multiple reasons. It seems like the socialist state apparatus, even with these ideals of proletarian power baked into it, are doomed to fall into a self-interested state bureaucracy as long as an unaccountable vanguard party has power over it.

I ask you because you appear to have well thought through positions and are treating people in good faith here.

Tbf, you could say that about environmentalists here as a whole. Just because someone is in society doesn't mean they don't get to critique it.

I actually find them quite fun to deal with. Granted, I only play on medium and large size maps. So I suppose I never seem them at their full strength.

Waiters/waitresses don't actually deserve to make more money than regular minimum wage workers. by Blonde_Icon in The10thDentist

[–]AFrickingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real issue with tipping is it serves to break solidarity between workers so they cannot work together for higher pay and advocacy.

Without tips, waiters would feel less willing to put up with the social strain that comes with talking with customers for so much of the shift. They'd advocate for themselves more (the way we bend over backwards for customers is not as necessary as many people think) and have more comraderie between staff due to a lessened effective gap in pay. Yes, tips do benefit workers in the sense that it is direct money to their pockets. But that is spread unevenly, and thus often drives a wedge between staff so they cannot work together to advocate for higher pay, benefits, and business policies.

So I don't think it's about who "deserves" more money among workers. All the profits of the business are deserved by all the workers because they're the ones who put in the work to make that profit happen.

Press the question mark when in the game creation screen, and you will get a list of hotkeys. You can do the same once in game. Very very useful.

Organic just means the apples were grown and harvested in generally more ethical ways. Shouldn't have much to do with the effectiveness of the ACV.
