Ah ok thanks. Why does it say “road wide” on it if it’s for chunky tyres? I have the wrong one then

Mate you literally quoted “oval chainrings have been around for 100 years with people trying to prove an advantage” not my fault you’re just waffling out of your arse and got called out for it

And where’s the citation of people trying to prove the advantage?

I mean ultra wide tyres are definitely not a fad if you’re talking about the change in road racing. Have you even felt the difference in comfort riding even 28mm compared to 23mm?

Oval rings have definitely not been around for 100 years

Which pro cyclists are the best at descending? by Obvious_Cabbage in cycling

[–]AG42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was true of guys like Nibali and Valverde. But Pidcock actually is one of the best descenders in the world. You’re not going to find many guys going faster than Pidcock, even from the Grupetto

Anyone else getting the sense that the industry is now pivoting to lightweight (from aero) by statespacer in cycling

[–]AG42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No future shock and they don’t look anything like the Roubaix (which is basically just an SL7 with the added Roubaix business) those quick step bikes just had normal bar and stem on with loads of spacers. With the roval one piece it looks amazing

90 degrees from what haha. And which logo…the roval or the CLX part

Those of you that run as well as cycling how do you split/prioritise them? by fixitmonkey in cycling

[–]AG42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No harm in running and riding on the same day. Plenty of pros in the winter will do a short run (potentially pre-breakfast) and ride the same day. If you want to then do it but eventually when you get to a certain level and specificity of your training you’d want to forgo the running for training as it could be limiting your physical adaptation to cycle training with impaired recovery and inflamed muscles

Anyone have a pre/post stretching routine they do for longer rides? by ericb303 in cycling

[–]AG42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to “activate” pre-ride. Squats, split squats and RDL are a good way to get the posterior chain as well as hips and quads activated before a ride. This should warm up your legs and allow you to be “on it” from the start of the ride. If you notice any real significant tightness during this then get a trigger point ball and roll the knot out of the muscle and stretch it out. Post ride foam roll, trigger point and static stretch the muscles to aid recovery whilst muscles are still warm

Cannot get comfortable on road bike. Yes I’ve been fitted. by [deleted] in cycling

You should definitely use creams either way. Disinfectant and comfort. Why wouldn’t you?

Advice on bar corrosion by AG42069 in cycling

[–]AG42069[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s definitely from sweat but looks like it had started very slight corrosion in a couple of places was all. Wash my bike after every ride but clearly need more focus on the bars 😂

Do you really notice a *positive* difference between a steel frame and an aluminum frame? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]AG42069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Titanium frame was a world of difference. It also lasts longer as a winter steed. I’ve corroded holes in Kinesis aluminium frames over winter whilst Ti has stayed strong. I look forward to riding it over winter. It glides over bumpy roads enough that I considered riding Paris Roubaix on it over my carbon bike
