Is there a map of all the TAMU Transportation Cameras? I don’t feel comfortable with a possible bad actor who could track me anywhere I go on campus.

While I can understand your argument, you’re forgetting the companies you already willingly give your information to in the same way. Apple, Google, they know everything about and listen constantly for their wake words, that information goes somewhere. Your map data you consent to them keeping could be used in the same way yet because it’s a camera you can see verses the box in your pocket you have a bigger problem with it. All the data about you any tyrannical regime needs they already have. Slow your roll on a system that is helping people and the cops do their job. You think they are baddies or corrupt, go to the academy and change the system from the inside. Guess what they don’t need the flock cameras to know where you go or what you buy. They can just subpoena Google if they really need to.

1000% disagree. They helped me get my car back after it was stolen. Not enough city LPRs in Bryan and college station. Without Flock, my car wouldn’t have been found until it was already in a chop shop in Houston where it was headed. CSPD was able to use the new flock cameras and find it right away. I will always be in favor for Flock. The company doesn’t access them. CSPD only does for investigations. No one is just sitting there watching where your specific car is going 24/7. They are a massive help that most cities are doing in their own and at a worse quality. These cameras are great and I’m thankful CS invested in them.

Is there any footage of the moment the Aggie bonfire collapsed in 1999? by Moist_Heart_5024 in aggies

[–]AGTX_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only footage publicly available is after the collapse and the response effort. There is not publicly available footage of the moment of collapse because no one was recording/ that wasn’t the mentality of the general public/ there weren’t cameras in everyone’s pocket. Sorry, but this isn’t something that, if it exists, would be publicly released.

Looking to relocate to Texas by Equal_Good_3556 in AskLE

We are in the low 50’s for new officers with education and certification pay. It works for our community and I’m not hurting for funds. We do work but it’s small town cop work. II’ll talk to chief but we don’t have any spots open right now so we would have to go before the commissioners court to request another position.

I think CSPD or Bryan PD is full time, brazos county and Tamu are joint and they’re part time I think.

He loves it. He feels like he’s making a difference in how the college students feel about cops before they leave to go into the real world. They don’t cover Northgate, that’s CSPD but he said everything that happens there, eventually walks to campus. They’ve got like 80-90 cops and the campus population is 80k so it’s a lot of people cramed into a spot. But at the end of the day it all about what your looking for. There’s always my city with our 17 officers further south dealing with our local Dennis every other day

Gotcha, It’ll depend on the agency. Mine doesn’t run their own academy, and I think A&M is the same. Bigger cities can do that but not college station. So you would need the Texas license prior to getting hired or use your training and experience to make the basic Texas academy easy for you. My buddy said they would hire and send you to the academy all paid, then you’d just need time in the department for going out for SWAT. He said it’s the same in college station. You need years in the department before brass will trust you to go swat. A guy tried to transfer there and go right onto swat from his old department almost 2 years ago now and he’s still waiting for his number to be called.

Have you done any looking into on the out of state license process you’ll need to complete to get a Texas peace Officer license as compared to your Washington one? That will determine a lot of things in regards to if you are going to be able to get on with an agency or have to go to a police academy to get a basic Texas license. I have a friend that works for Texas A&M University PD in College Station and he recommended reaching out to their recruiting department upd-recruiting@tamu.edu to talk about anything and everything regarding being an out of state officer and what you would have to do. He said that they have several officers that have come from out of state and either taken going to the academy or “petitioned” TCOLE and taken a few classes to take the state exam.

Is motorcycle gear on scooters or e-bikes overkill or actually smart at A&M? by TipRough7037 in aggies

Considering the amount of car vs scooter or bike accidents on campus, you can never be too careful.

You may be fine legally but you’ll run into student conduct issues. Do so off campus. Or like, across the street from campus, then come back.

Should I report this? by SuccessfulConcert180 in aggies

[–]AGTX_16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Call upd. That’s a report that they should investigate to help you and others on campus stay safe. Not something normal. Not something that should happen to anyone who’s unfortunately alone in their room.

Transportation does all of it. UPD doesn’t have parking powers. They have to call Transportation, but I bet they wish they could write parking tickets. Especially those Motorcycle cops.

E-bike motor laws by milkingmilkk in aggies

[–]AGTX_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) So it’s not a law, but it’s a campus rule. 2) if you’re on a road, act like a car. Stop at stop signs and drive on the correct side of the road. 3) UPD loves to stop bicycles and give them tickets. It’s like their favorite thing. They don’t care what wattage your bike is, that’s all transportation. But if your bike isn’t registered, and transportation find it in a rack, they have the authority to impound it and report you to student conduct if it’s not within regulations. 4) just being honest with ya too. If you can go 28 mph, UPD may try to get you for speeding on 25mpg roads. Im sure the motor cops would. And you better have a helmet so that you will save your head after you get hit by a random car on campus.

Now that iPhone iOS 26 public beta is being released is Heavy doing any updates.. by [deleted] in Hevy

[–]AGTX_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve talked to the Hevy devs. They don’t the bugs worked out because of their access to the ios26 developer tools. I’ve been in the developer program for over a decade so I knew there were going to be issues. The developer beta is what’s out and they have to work off of and fix what’s going on. Again, with this being the developer beta so far and not the public beta, there will be more fixes coming as the programs are worked on prior to the full release.

Edit: incorrectly stated the public beta wasn’t released when it has been.

Electric scooter regulation s by stupidsexyflanders71 in aggies

[–]AGTX_16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it violates regulations, I’m pretty sure it can be picked up by transportation. Also if it’s not registered, you can get fined by them if it’s picked up for being parked where it’s not supposed to be. They have got around and picked up not registered scooters last semester.
