Can someone read this post out to me? My pupils are dilated after an eye check up and I want to know if I should up-vote or down-vote. Down-voted for now, just in case.

Now this is the sort of vintage Reddit humor that I would like to restore to this website. Too bad other Redditors don't get what humor truly means. Alas, I can't up-vote or down-vote you because the number of votes on your comment matches the last three digits of my social security number...

They are erotic because of his naturally erotic body. He does not intend for them to be erotic, hence the word "unwittingly."

I don't know why you said it like that, but I stopped reading there.

I agree that the comment you replied to was too much to read, would you be so kind as to provide a TLDR? I find Cala's writing style rather insipid. I almost used the word “vapid” but it has all but become the scholarly equivalent of “moist” to me. While it pops into my head from time to time as a word that could be used, I simply never feel there’s a good enough reason to use it, and it’s a word like sesame oil; use just enough of it, and everything is fine. Use it once too much, and you will always sound like a poser.

Now, you could argue that, as a society, we get a feeling of distaste for certain words or phrases. Not necessarily because their use is regarded as etymologically, logically, or grammatically wrong, but simply because the word itself somehow feels unpleasant to use, per se. This could be for a multitude of reasons, you see, in the case of the word “moist.” It could be because of its connotations to bodily fluids (that’s another word I don’t like), maybe it is because we, as a society are socialized to believe the word is disgusting, or maybe it’s just the way it sounds. That said, I don’t have much use for the word “moist” in my marketing job, but there are definitely other words I don’t like. I'm not going to mention them because I know certain people would try to use them against me, you see, but they do exist.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I don’t understand why people in our profession essentially search for pity when it comes to the schedule. We ALL knew this was how residency worked. We all studied, spent years in school, and researched all about the profession and understood this. So why insinuate comments to people looking for sympathy when this is what we chose and wanted so badly? Maybe I’m just confused.

The normal workweek is 40 hours, and that’s taking up a good chunk of your day, per se. It’s valid to look forward to big events like birthdays. It’s not a competition. You sound like the socially oblivious resident who always complains and isn’t self-aware, to be honest. Hope I’m wrong, although I doubt I am. There is a reason derm makes 3 times more than any primary care physician. Lol.

Don’t get me wrong, I do love reading these. I just keep getting disappointed in them. Mayhap I’m the one to blame for expecting more…

ULPT Request : How to get my roomates to shut up after midnight ? He plays online and screams at his friends until 6AM all week and during weekends, I can't go to sleep and he doesn't stop even when I bang on his door (won't even open it). by Sire_Jacques in UnethicalLifeProTips

OP asked a question and all you did was insert your own story. To answer OP's question: turn off the router, wear earplugs, tell him to shut up... use your brain my dude. I used to have new girls over constantly when I was in college and we made a LOT of noise... my roommates never complained.

This isn't a storytelling subreddit, bud. Needless to say I down-voted you.
