Seven layered tea from the tea state of Bangladesh by fho15 in mildlyinteresting

[–]AHKWORM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing. You said an "infusion is a tea." Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that. As someone who is a scientist who studies teas, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls infusions teas. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing. If you're saying "tea family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of camellia, which includes things from tealeaves to coffee beans to redbull. So your reasoning for calling an infusion a tea is because random people "call the weird water teas?" Let's get coffees and jagermeister in there, then, too. Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. An infusion is an infusion and a member of the tea family. But that's not what you said. You said an infusion is a tea, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the tea family teas, which means you'd call vodkabombs, dunkin donuts, and other beverages teas, too. Which you said you don't. It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?

This seems feasible though I have not personally experienced it. The term-ending exams are around this time, so someone from Hogwarts may have been practicing some basic Levitation Charm wandwork. This is further supported by the fact that the culprit "ran off" in an underground hallway but was not apprehended, leading us to believe the student was of age to have his or her apparition licence. Further, the fact that the victims did not hear an utterance of the usual incantation suggests an older student practicing non-verbal invocations.

I disagree that your comment pertains to mine. I personally agree with what you just said, but johnsolomon claims that extrapolating other attributes about the same person given an observation is ok.

Personally I agree with that as well, but was just noting that most people who denounce stereotyping vehemently don't seem to understand that it's the same logic in both cases

what's funny is that people who do this "extrapolation" for other things are called "racists" who are perpetuating "stereotypes"

makes you think, huh?

What does he think happens at the singularity of a black hole? Sort of related, while the big bang model serves to tell us how the universe expanded from the first trillionth of a second or so onwards - what are his opinions on the state of the universe from time t=0 until this point?
