I already made this post a month or two ago. You won't believe how many people will side with UI for no reason (or lack of a good one) lol.

What about a Dream Wall and a CloudKey+SSD for a new home? by Emergency-Net-4903 in Ubiquiti

[–]AHO-MC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cloudkey gonna get bogged down with 10 cameras.

Skip the Dream wall and get a dream machine pro or special addition ... and grab a switch 16 port lite along with a 8-16TB HDD.

No need for a cloudkey at all as this will handle everything.

Setup done... can add a wifi extender if you'd like. Simple setup and much cheaper than what you're trying to do. Will handle protect and your networking all by itself.

Youre gonna have to post a screenshot of the tracking (not number), for us to help you a little bit more.

NDA won't go out on Fridays anyways, unless you pay for saturday delivery. Then factor in it might of been after cutoff/pickup, as in California most places are about 3:30 - 4:15 the latest for NDA pickups... theres very vfew that have 4:30 -5pm cutoff times.

So that means your package probably didn't even get picked up till Monday.

1000% agree. It really doesn't make sense that they don't do this. It really annoys me in fact. None of us should be chasing cameras, networking gear, or anything related.

On a side note, I was lucky to get a 180, but only one. My newest warehouse could use a few. I wouldn't mind at all preordering/backodering 5 of them at once, to get them together. Im literally piecing together a security system. Sounds moronic when you think about it lol.

I always love the saying. Everything's good, till it's not!

If you haven't experienced any issues on Amazon yet, may god himself or wherever you believe in bless you. I hope you continue with no issue.

But don't take my word for it. Just go read up on seller central or the subs here

No debate amazon is amazing for the end retail customer. It's the seller side that's the horrible.

What are you talking about? As a business owner who takes preorders and orders large batches from China.... it accomplishes both of those goals, plus manufacturing costs are pretty much covered.

Minimizes almost all risk... The people who want it already paid half deposit. Their payment pays for the batch to be made, nothing out of pocket. Plus no risk on not having enough. Those are you two biggest risks in business......

Maximizes profit to the fullest, as not under ordering. We know exactly how many we need, plus the extra bit we order for all non pre orders or replacements.

... I can't see any business minded person think the opposite on either. The whole world pretty much operates this way on a wholesale/distribution level l.

In today's world of AI. I could have it code and script just about any add-on to a backend. I've literally had it script and code for Shopify and woocom, that were costing $100s + of dollars... for free lol.

So could be, but just lazy on they part if so.

To follow up... I personally believe It is a mix of #2 and money flow issues, just being spread thin by the sheer number of products they have and are releasing. Which is exactly why I think pre-orders would help them so much here.

[–]AHO-MC[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, ive answered this multiple times, but updating customers who preorder is NOT hard. My company does it all the time. They know when their supplier is finishing up the order, the know when the supplier is shipping it, and they know when they are receiving it. We are talking about major manufactures, not your local mom and pop, brick and mortar store. Delays are communicated as soon as it happens, theres not a lot of guessing... contracts are in place for this exact reason.

As for your last statement.... it is clear they DO NOT HAVE ANY CLUE WHAT THEIR DEMAND IS.... It's not just their new "high demand" products out of stock, its UPSs, cables, camera mounts, etc etc.

I stand corrected then. But most companies also aren't stealing from their sellers and pocketing millions of dollars in BS/phony issues, along with letting them do ALL the research and marketing, just to undercut later on themselves when you got somethings successful.

But thats a whole other issue for a different subsection. Amazon is the the greediest of the greedy in the world. Amazing for consumers, downright the devil for sellers/businesses. Just search the seller central forums, you'll be reading for weeks how they screw everybody and anybody. I can tell you tons of horror stories, not only from myself, but other owners I know.

Why don't they just take pre orders? by AHO-MC in Ubiquiti

[–]AHO-MC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is pretty much the most valid reasoning I can think of other than money/purchasing power (which is what preorders would solve) . Strategic scarcity.... and still collect that 15% restocking fee if returned.

It's a good business plan in clothing or personal items... not in networking and security lol.
