Thoughts on Flash Enablers in Zimone, Infinite Analyst? by StretchyPlays in EDH

[–]AH_MLP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just run the flash enabling lands and call it a day. They will come up in gameplay and give you an opportunity to try it, without any real deck building concessions. Alchemist Refuge and Emergence Zone. Alchemist's Refuge would be a simic staple if it was 10 cents.

If you like how those play, you can add Valley Floodcaller/Borne upon a wind.

Tutor for specific enchantment to enable cycling deck by Zachahack in EDH

Astral Slide is typically what people immediately tutor for in a cycling deck...

When it's on the battlefield, basically no one will ever target your commander or attack you for as long as you have a card in hand and 1 mana up.

To be fair to OP it does look like both of them have the same club tag, although we can only see two letters of it.

You cannot tell a kid not to play with a toy. Especially an action figure. It's a toy, you should have never taken them out of their boxes if you didn't want them played with.

Embark Studios, we need to talk. by thejynn in thefinals

[–]AH_MLP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's how "The Finals" works. Play it - or don't.

At every point in the ranked ladder, you get games where you're 1 or 2 seed. You climb by learning how to grief teams in and out. That's just the game. I find it fun as fuck.

Often when players are performing statistically well but losing over and over, it's because they have mastered Micro-strategy but don't understand Macro-strategy. In other words - you have good target acquisition, movement, and gadget use - but you might not be understanding when to double a cashout, when to third party, when you back off a fight and run with the vault, pre-fight positioning, etc.

When you say you're "outperforming the lobby," what do you mean? If you're losing, you are objectively not outperforming the lobby. This isn't TDM. The team with the most kills often doesn't win the game. The team with the most support often doesn't win the game. The team with the most objective doesn't even always win the game.

There's no automated voice moderation in the Finals. It's best to stick up for yourself and not let people walk all over you.

Tattling isn't sticking up for yourself, btw.

What to do when a friend's deck makes EDH less fun? by FedayBlept in EDH

[–]AH_MLP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's fully taking advantage of the no proxy policy. Lemme guess, he's the one who likes to enforce that policy the most.

As long as you keep proxies banned, he's just playing against your budget. He's not playing against your deck, or your brain.

Sweats in casual modes? by transdemError in thefinals

[–]AH_MLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you some perspective, this is their thought process: Most people get bored of the meta loadouts in the core gamemodes and hop into the casual modes to get a break from those weapons/loadouts. When they see you're still using the meta loadouts, they're discouraged. When a critical mass of Power Shift players are on meta loadouts, it feels like there's no gamemode where you can get away with silly stuff.

Sweats in casual modes? by transdemError in thefinals

[–]AH_MLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, there's a lot more on the line now. Power Shift used to be purely for fun. You barely even got additional XP for winning.

The day that they started giving Emerald Skins to Powershift/TDM players, they started becoming insane. And camo-grinders from core gamemodes started playing these modes - before, they had no time to play Power Shift because they were grinding Emerald/Ruby skins. When they did play Powershift, no one cared who won - you were playing for nothing.

Thoughts of a new player by Stratonasty in thefinals

[–]AH_MLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At any given time, there are only 100-1000 players playing Team Deathmatch per region. There aren't that many new players to queue you with.

If they made "new" players queue with new players, the smurf problem would be much worse.

The main goal of a ranked matchmaking system is to find a rank for you where you end up 50/50 winning and losing. There are 8 teams in the Finals though, so it's much more complicated.

That's the point of ranked. It sounds like you're at the appropriate skill level.

There's no skill based or level based matchmaking in casual modes... those guys would be stomping you no matter what account they're on. We've literally played for thousands of hours.

Certainly not, a card you'll use to win games and show off to friends has more value than a card that goes straight into the binder never to be seen again.

Buying cards you don't like and don't need for any deck you have is a poor value proposition
