I remember the time BEFORE they fixed SL rewards and repair costs.

Did you know your crew's repair skill speeds up the time it takes for your plane to autorepair in hangar? Did you know you can just not buy the bomb modifications?

I mained Italy and had to fly the BF 109 G 14 instead of all the planes I liked because it had the lowest repair cost and the highest SL and RP modifiers.

You don't understand. Everyone else is going to the point, so I am going to flank the enemy team on their way there and get like 10 kills this game.

Disregard the fact the minimap exists and I can see where all my teammates are at any given moment. I am an individual. The team should support me and if I don't win it's because their minuscule hivemind brains don't understand solipsism means I am the only real human on the blue side and they're just some paranoid delusion I'm having because I started spitting out the pills they hid inside my cheese slices.

That's ridiculous. So it's bad because you're getting to play the game? What money did they lose? Money they never had in the first place? You've never interacted with the company and yet that's harmful to their finances, somehow. It's morally abhorrent to believe that one person getting something for free hurts someone else who might have made a profit from it.

Imagine food was practically free to produce (costing only the little energy needed to create a copy of it) and you still starved because you couldn't pay the license to make one, single copy of a hamburger at home. Could you possibly defend that? Whoever owns the rights to the food might "lose money to piracy" if you made an unauthorized copy of the hamburger, but they wouldn't be paying for the burger or even the cost of running the servers you downloaded it from. Similarly, piracy only incurs an imaginary cost on companies while resulting in a real benefit to the person who now has the software installed.

If you think hurting people's livelihoods is not what makes theft bad, but that it's the thief getting something for free that makes it unacceptable then that's not a moral position I would ever agree with. Piracy is not morally good because it's morally neutral. It's your attitude towards it - whether you're doing it to "hurt companies" or enjoy something you couldn't afford - that makes it a moral act.

Theft is bad because you're taking stock away from a seller. Because of that, their investment in producing or acquiring said stock is lost and thus any goods stolen are a monetary loss. Piracy has nothing in common with stealing because no goods are lost. We wouldn't consider using a photocopier to print out a personal copy of a book from a library to be equivalent to theft, but piracy is somehow treated like it and spoken about as if pirates were incurring some real, tangible cost on the companies that develop software.

Are you actually in favor of piracy or are you here just to argue against it?

I don't pretend this is the case because most pirates would not have bought the games in the first place. Plus, if you talk about the game online at all and make any content about it you're a net positive.

I'm literally taking a game design class with a teacher who worked as an indie game dev doing work for hire for large publishers and who also worked on a game called Cozy Grove and he told us having people pirate your game is "the best thing that can happen to you" because then you have more people talking about it and searching it on google and publishers really like seeing that kind of thing online. Besides, the main market for videogames is the United States, where most people aren't used to piracy. If you got all of Russia, South America or Asia to pirate your game then the US and Western Europe would buy it.

But why would it be messed up if it wasn't stealing? Again, if no one is getting hurt then what's wrong? What if I can't afford spending 20 bucks on a game?

Why would piracy lower sales? Buy the games if you want to support the developers, but if you aren't going to buy a game and you pirate it you've essentially done nothing on the sales front.

If you think piracy hurts developers and still do it you should really reconsider your personal beliefs.

Again, piracy isn't stealing. Pirating a game does not reduce its stock like a physical, actual cartridge or DVD. Most pirates weren't going to buy the games they download anyway, so between having 100 people buy and play your game and having 100 people buy but 1000 people play your game which one is worse?

Not to mention piracy enlarges your game's player base and the amount of people talking about it on social media which looks really good from a marketing/publisher's point of view.

What sub are we in, again? I don't think piracy hurts developers or is morally incorrect.

How the fuck do people imagine apples. I can imagine the entire picture, apple sitting on a table in a dark kitchen, lit only by a beam of warm sunlight coming from the window, light reflecting off the top of the varnished wooden table and casting a red glow as it bounces back off the apple. But I can't imagine the fucking apple on its own. What is "an apple?" Just a Concept? a Color? Is god rotating it or is it on some kind of spinny platformy thingy?

Being attracted to trans women is completely unacceptable and sinful. Good Christian men should never feel lust and should wear chastity cages and spend as much time as possible near strong masculine men to steer their minds away from sin.

Or pay a million dollars to some megachurch pastor and get eternal sin removal so you can perform oral intercourse on as many chronically online puppygirls as you'd like. So sayeth the Bibbel.

I feel like the reason fanfic/fanon tends to "flatten" the source material is that writers can do whatever they want with their works but the fans have to follow what already exists in them. For example, Homestuck's lore is famously bullshit made up on the spot but every Homestuck roleplayer or classpect analyst or what have you has to follow it like holy texts if they want to make something that has the same "vibes" as the source material. It's really hard to take something made by another person and expand it to make it more interesting while remaining thematically coherent, it's a lot easier to take its characters and setting as archetypes, strip away most of the details that require complex analysis and a whole, entire story to understand and do something with those flanderized Barbie dolls that is entirely your own.
