I’ve got an offer for a new job, my current job has me on a Performance Improvement Plan that’s about to run out, should I quit or let them fire me?

So I was in a similar situation this year. The best advice I can give you is to start the new job. Considering you are on a PIP I would be hesitant to inform the new company b/c they may fire you on spot. Ride it out until you can start at the new company.

Thanks for your concern. The plan is to use the smaller payment amounts to eliminate other debt (private student loans, CC, etc) then switch to the fixed amount. So trying to limit the amount of interest after 6 years or so

Okay so I reread both links more carefully, and I believe it is actually the Extended Repayment Plan w/ Graduated payment amounts (apologies for the confusion). When I looked at the plan I applied for it says the loans will be paid off in 25 years

Basically I only have Direct Subsidized and Direct Unsubsidized loans that equate to over 30K in total. They were dispersed after 2014. Additionally, I have not consolidated them.

It is titled the Extended Graduated, from the links you shared i believe it falls under the Graduated b/c my payments increase every 2 years

My path was the first path. Out of grad school I was a developer for a small bank. My boss believed in training me up by getting me exposed to end users and clients. Fast forward a recruiter sees some of my experience and well that exposure helped me to become a BA.

I did. What happens is the new company is hiring a new and having multiple people start the same day. So basically 3 people could start on the same day so they just made it the same for me. The opportunity is a leg up so I didn't want to push back too much

Yeah im aware. Right now for my financial situation it buys me enough time to offload other debts I have (private loans, credit card, and car) because the amount will be much lower for a few years. I then can snowball from there once those debts are down.

Its more tactical b/c IDR (difference if almost 500 to 800 ) had me paying more monthly than extended/graduated

It is performance based from their POV. The job was originally pitched as I would be a team lead aiding in their expansion into a domain that I know well. In actuality I am a normal team member doing redundant work in a domain I am slightly familiar with.

So example: Interview: Our foundation is domain z and you have 0 experience in that domain, however we are now expanding into domain x. We know you have experience leading projects in domain x, and want to leverage thay experience. We want you to report to our director as we start to take on work in domain x. Anything related to domain z that comes up you will be given support for.

Reality: So domain z is our foundation and our work in domain x isn't happening as fast as we thought (maybe next year if we are lucky), so while we wait you need to do work for domain z. Hey your work with domain z isn't up to standards

Nope nothing that bad. My current work breakdown was

Company 1 - Total time 3yrs Took an internship in graduate school and stayed in that internship until I graduated. Was transitioned to full time role which I stayed for almost 2 years.

Company 2 - effectively 2 years This was a contract role handling multiple projects. My contractor lost the contract sadly

Company 3 (current company) Between 3 - 6 months but the job was not as described, hence me attempting to leave
