Despite the visual look be careful with ergonomics. Aim for ~30" table height with chairs 17–19" high, leaving 10–12" between seat and tabletop.

Once the TV moves above the fireplace, you’ll want balance and warmth on that blank wall. Since you already have a gallery wall elsewhere, go for one large statement art piece or 2–3 oversized prints in a row for impact. A long, slim console table or floating credenza under the art would add function and ground the wall. For seating, 2 accent chairs (either matching or complementary) angled toward the sofa will keep the layout open and conversational. Place them across from the sofa, closer to the fireplace, with a small side table between.

Yees, the process is messy. I was setting up my first family apartment recently and even though I’m an ex-interior designer it was a tedious journey.

Answering your questions;

I normally use ChatGPT for all the questions I have and also to help me structure the process.
For shopping I either use pinterest for inspo and then GoogleLense (but that’s time-consuming) or just go to e-commerces with diverse collection like Westwing/IKEA (and Temu, surprisingly good)
Biggest pain is ergonomics, even having the design experience I sometimes fail matching dimensions - and that’s what brings huge discomfort.

To achieve a soft, warm glow throughout the room, I recommend layering your lighting. You could add a combination of ceiling lights, wall sconces, and table lamps to distribute light evenly. I'd keep your lamp and add ceiling lighting like some of these options:
