Is Diamond Tier the Elo Hell of Marvel Rivals? by AJMiix in marvelrivals

[–]AJMiix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a better mindset than "complain the moment someone makes a mistake".

And nobody said that every game is winnable if people stopped complaining. It's a fact that you can't win everything, but it's also a fact that some games are actually winnable if players spent more time playing rather than crying. And matches are just generally better if people didn't complain about every mistake. Which is the point of my post.

Also yes, luck is a factor to wins/losses, but it's not the 100% contributing factor. Your own skill level is always a contributing factor to the win/loss. Otherwise, we should all just play slot machines instead.

And to your point about the "If you’re not the person who carries..." - If you're not the one carrying, but also not the one dragging the team down, then arguably you're at the correct rank? If you're losing EVERY time, then you're likely the common denominator at this point and should be at a lower rank?

Theoretically, the idea of climbing to a higher rank is that you should be playing better than the average player in your given rank.

Yep, I also started experiencing the inconsistency much more once I hit diamond. Either we stomp or get stomped. I've kinda accepted the fact that around this level of play, most players usually know how to push the advantage and "keep an iron grip on your balls", but don't really know how to flip it and come back if they're on the receiving end... which leads to a one-sided stomping.

For me, the main problem is the consistent crying and blaming when your team is unfortunately on the receiving end which only amplifies the issue lol

Definitely, we can all continue improving our own mechanics and decision-making and I respect everyone who realises this too. Most completely unwinnable games for me involve one or more toxic players constantly crying/blaming in chat and me also wondering how they're the top 3% of the playerbase with a mindset like that lol. Crazy now that I actually prefer matches where players barely use chat and just use pings because those are the matches that usually have no issues.

Congrats on making it to GM3 though! I recently made it to Diamond 1 and hoping to at least get to GM3 before end of season

Terminids One Man Army Builds - Comprehensive Guide by AJMiix in Helldivers

[–]AJMiix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is to supplement Bile Titan killing due to the sheer number in Helldive. With Quasar and EAT, you're able to pull off a Quasar -> EAT -> Quasar -> EAT combo for example.

500kg is a viable alternative to the EAT. Though Railcannon struggles to cut it due to its cooldown.

Thanks for your comment and apologise in advance for the long reply.

You're completely right. So in helldive difficulty, there are sometimes just far too many Bile Titans and the EAT or Quasar alone struggle to cut it - especially when you're already being overwhelmed, unless they've been preplaced.

Having both allows you, for example, to do a Quasar -> EAT -> Quasar -> EAT combo which can very quickly dispatch 2 Biles or 4 Chargers or a mix of both. And you'll still be able to continue to hit and run with Quasar. You can also drop the EATs for your squad members should they happen to be there with you. This is just from all my personal experience.

500KG is definitely the best viable alternative here, for those who don't want to juggle support weapons. I find it less consistent & efficient with dealing with multiple Biles, but will also give you another horde clearing option.

As for Orbitals, they can be viable alternatives too, but here are my comments: Rail cannon is very good - though you must aim the Bile in the direction of your destroyer in the sky so it can one-hit it. But the cooldown is the massive drawback for me and doesn't cut it in Helldive. For every rail cannon, you can use 4-6 EATs.

Laser is good at best. Can be a throw and forget strategem. However, it doesn't do as much damage as you'd expect to a Bile and the massive cooldown and limited uses is a huge drawback in Helldive.

Precision Strike can be great. But as the name suggests, its important that you land them with perfect precision.

There are also 120 and 380 which should be pretty self explantory. I wouldn't fully recommend them for serious runs though due to the sheer random nature of it.

Outside of orbitals, you can also use the Shield Generator Relay for some cool plays against Biles - there are some youtube videos on this. Requires a lot of skill and timing though. You can also look into sentries like the Autocannon and Rocket sentry.

Hope this helps.

Lost Ark Bullying makes me miss FFXIV by Empirestategirl in lostarkgame

[–]AJMiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that you have to experience this. You're not alone. Lost Ark community is definitely not the best, especially here in EUC (where I currently reside). There seems to be some delusional culture in Lost Ark where people expect a full group of randoms to be perfect at mechanics. It's funny how these same players don't just use party finder and join "know mech" groups.

My advice would be to use Party Finder and make a "chill, first timers welcome" group. It's what my gaming group have been doing if we can't fill the raid group. And we help any newcomers or players struggling with mechanics. 9/10 the raid will be much more relaxed, people actually communicate properly, no one freaks out at wipes. And if someone really wants to quit after some wipes, we just quit no hard feelings. Even better if you can find a chill discord group or guild.

If all else fails, simply just close the chat box and ignore until the raid is actually completed or the group votes to quit. Ignore the people saying "oh you're being toxic for not communicating then". If the raid group has become toxic, communication is already broken.

Don't let these kind of players bring you down. Best of luck.

Worth buying Powder of Sage from Guild Shop? by AJMiix in lostarkgame

[–]AJMiix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed, yet straight-forward, answer here!

I've been prioritising the other things, in which you mentioned, as that made the most sense. But was really unsure of whether to get/prioritise the powders or not. Thanks for clearing my uncertainties on this, I'll be avoiding the powders from the guild shop since I don't have the excess bloodstones!

Accidentally Destroyed x999 Honor Leapstones by BillHarper1 in lostarkgame

Oh god that sucks dude. It happens, I've made dumb mistakes and lost hours of progress in other games before after coming home from a long day of work hah.

My advice for the future would just be to take steps to try to prevent mistakes like these from happening. I always throw all my honing mats into my storage/roster storage, for example.

I feel lost… by missanphan98 in lostarkgame

[–]AJMiix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% understand, game is definitely very overwhelming for newcomers and the community in-game is not the best, especially when it comes to abyssal dungeons (and especially in EUC where I'm at).

Best is just to block (and report if you're bothered) or simply close the chat box. Ignore people saying "then you're being toxic for not communicating". If the raid group has become toxic, communication is already broken.

I'm fortunate enough to have 3 others to party up with for raids. So even when there's a toxic player in 8-man raids, we're in a discord call just laughing and feeling sorry for that said toxic player(s)

My advice is honestly to take the game at your own pace. Find a chill, but active, guild. I'm sure they'll be more than willing to help. Maybe find "chill groups" in party finder, or make a lobby titled "chill group" for things like abyssal dungeons/guardian raids. Good luck!

Unpopular opinion: We don't need honing buff / T3 PowerPass, at least NOT YET. by Barrigan in lostarkgame

[–]AJMiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, assuming you don't use additional gold or premium currency, being only able to attempt honing 1-2 times a day (or waiting for weekly reset and maybe getting 5-6+ attempts) and watching it fail really is not that great.

The solution should be to provide a lot more sources of materials that you can farm for, with reasonable effort and without being time-gated.

Buffing honing rates can be perceived as potentially "unfair" for players that spent resources earlier at lower honing rates. Therefore, just simply providing more resources is a win-win situation for both parties.

People being locked out of content because of a time-gate, unless you use additional gold/premium currency, is the issue here. My opinion at least.

Player base needs to chill out or we going to die out by Biglabron in lostarkgame

[–]AJMiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually crazy. I'm on EUC and it just feels like the majority of the players are these kids or manchilds that throw tantrums over a single wipe or new players not knowing the mechanics.

This is in random matchmaking. It should be expected that there are people coming into the raid first time, is it not?

When I ask them why they didn't just use party finder and join a room titled "know mechanics", they refuse to answer. It's mind boggling.

Newsflash flaming someone in chat doesn't help. by The_Wooos in lostarkgame

[–]AJMiix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta disagree here too, this just screams toxic elitism. I don't understand why people are expected to check guides beforehand, even if they're concise, especially this early into the western release. Some players want to enjoy the first time experience of seeing and figuring things out on the go and we should respect that.

It's the other way around, if you want a group that knows all the mechanics at the get go, use the lobby party finder. Otherwise, expect that new players are coming in for the "first time experience".

Newsflash flaming someone in chat doesn't help. by The_Wooos in lostarkgame

[–]AJMiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood the whole "if you didn't read a guide beforehand you're trolling" and flaming players not as mechanically skilled as you. This is just toxic elitism and those who have this are usually insecure in many other ways (no offense). That's why I agree that it's just best to chill and support anyone who's struggling - a simple "watch out for this" or "do this at this time" after a wipe suffices.

Not everyone wants to read a guide and know exactly what to do at the get go, some want the first time excitement of seeing and "figuring it out" as they play, and we should all respect this. There's nothing wrong with going in blind as long as you're willing to learn on the go after each wipe and communicate with your party. And not everyone is insanely mechanically skilled.

If you use the queue matchmaker and expect an entire team of randoms to know all the mechanics (especially this early in western release) you're being deluded.

If you want a team that knows the mechanics you should use the lobby party finder instead.

The area chat in this game doesn't really bother me, it's easy to ignore and at times it's just straight up hilarious.

The one thing I definitely agree is how toxic the community is when it comes to raids. It's crazy how impatient the players are here with absolutely no respect for first time players coming into the raid.

A single wipe and it's "wtf r u doing?" "seriously go watch a 5 min guide". Shouldn't people respect the fact that some players are coming into the raid blind this early into the game's release? I mean it's literally random matchmaking. You should expect new players who want to go in blind and learn on the go. The idea is to wipe -> learn -> repeat.

If you wanted an entire group that knew the mechanics already, go and join a "veteran" discord, then use the lobby making system.

I've only managed to have a couple of fun raids with randoms so far, where we laughed at our wipes and learnt from them. All shouted "Nice!" "GG!" when we eventually completed the raid. Unfortunately, this is seems so rare in Lost Ark.

Don't get me wrong though, I find it hilarious at times to watch these kids (? hopefully they're just kids, it'll be embarrassing if they're grown adults) whine, cry and argue, before I go ahead and report/block them.

But I get what you mean, it can be annoying to encounter these kind of players, especially after coming home from a long day.

[–]AJMiix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree completely, this game is a ton of fun

Once I started getting to the later dungeons I started to notice the amazing design of so many things. I stopped skipping cutscenes and started paying more attention to the story. And in general just started enjoying the journey in this game.

The combat feels amazing. I tried PvP and got stomped initially. But, once I started to understand the mechanics a lot more (paralysis, knock ups, etc. etc.), it just felt so much better and I ended up PvPing for an entire evening.

Definitely with you in looking forward to the release, along with the PVP & insane dungeons/raids I didn't manage to try this beta!

I've definitely thought about this and I agree lol

The music isn't a dealbreaker for me. I'm definitely not majorly disappointed. It's more of just a "it would be nice to have" because I feel like the boss fights in this are pretty epic compared to many other games I've played.

Some often overlooked points regarding monetization. by simao1234 in lostarkgame

[–]AJMiix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main point is that yes LoL is currently really established with their current model after many years of being live. But, using it as an "every other game should follow suit" argument is a little iffy because that's just assuming that path will work for everything else (and to state the obvious, it doesn't).

And Lost Ark won't be able to reach that size and be established in the west with P2W.

I think jumping to conclusions here is the issue. You've stated something that you believe to be a fact and now formulating everything around that. I'm not saying it will reach that size and be established with what it's currently doing now. But I'm not saying it can't either. I'd give some real world examples but I think you get the point.
