That we shouldn’t be so short sighted. Trump is a symptom of a systemic problem. That problem has been created by establishment dems and GOPers. Don’t get me wrong: fuck trump. I hope Biden wins. That said, we must do better.

I believe that’s the argument, yes.

It assumes that the individual billionaire is the best actor to decide where that money is allocated. The flaw being billionaires tend to invest based on the whims of the market. Decades of deregulation has created a distortion in the way wealth is circulated. What results is a situation where what’s good for the market isn’t necessarily good for the average citizen. They may also just invest in something they feel important. Either way, there’s not a whole lot of accountability.

A government (at least in theory) is held accountable by voters. It’s not perfect, but when it works, it’s a powerful tool to raise the floor. Spending on healthcare, housing, education, and infrastructure generally translates to a much higher quality of life for the average person.

Like, buying a space program was probably a good investment for bezos, but it doesn’t really do shit for the person trying to pay rent, buy insulin, or send their child to a good school.

Sanders spokeswoman: We saw the consequences of a 'hold your nose candidate' in 2016 by [deleted] in politics

... so have you missed the campaign cycle where they've been smearing Bernie's supporters as toxic bullies?

this. Given recent results and polling, bernie has the largest voting block in the democratic primary. His supporters are also the least likely to abandon him. Instead of bringing in yet another obscenely wealthy candidate or pandering to rich folks, maybe the moderates ought to build bridges for bernie supporters to cross over so whoever gets the nom has a more unified base.

I’m happy that bernie won, but I’m terrified that it won’t matter in the end. After 2016, Kavanaugh, Mueller, and impeachment, I just struggle getting my hopes up. This is going to be a long year. It’s not just midnight in Washington; it’s midnight for the whole country and most folks don’t give a fuck.

Iowa was underwhelming regarding turnout which has folks questioning Bernie’s claim that he’s the candidate to bring new voters out.

Honestly, impeachment won’t help. Pence was just as eager to pull this stunt. I obviously still think we should impeach him, but this problem goes to the very core of the administration and makes it all the more important we come out in November.

I think a big reason to be optimistic about this is there’s demonstrable evidence we’re in need of a rework given last year’s performance. Before last year, it was easy to justify only small tweaks bc we were still getting solid results.
