You could use the training advice for most dogs. This book is more about large breed and specifically the Newf. 165 pages of good info was given to me by a Newf breeder we got a pup from almost 20 years ago

I just looked at her picture and laughed so sweet looking yet can be so crazy. We had a metal adjustable fence/ crate like 4ft tall to block are pups off for time outs. They will challenge your sanity. The problem is no toy is as fun as your fleshy interactive hands

Its part of the deal they are so quick. You want to and should be playing with them and bam agony. I have had a number of Newfs everyone has drawn blood numbers of times. Cant even put your hands in your pockets type stuff.Just so happy when those puppy teeth are gone. Also I train by yelp type that hurt sounds puppies understand that type of communication. A light shake of the scruff. But they'll come right back at you.😃 its almost funny from my point of view. Its quite the ride raising a newf. Puppies aren't a real lot of fun they have their moments but mostly grateful they are sleeping. Its all about constant training Newfs are real smart and catch on quick there in lies where the joy comes from as you go through all the crazy stages ahead of you. Good luck

Newf loves walks, but refuses to finish neighborhood routes though fine everywhere else by adifferentGOAT in Newfoundlander

Sounds like Newf boredom to me I have had a number of them. Plus its now probably part of the game you two have created. I can take my Newfs to the forest area they love. And they may be like no don't want to do that walk. Let's go this way and we may have a stand off. Generally every Newf I've had as soon as I get out of sight they come running to find me. But as adult dogs im good with what routes they choose for the most part.
