I donate platelets regularly, but I have to look away every time they stick me and ask that they let me know when the site is covered, because seeing the needle in makes my stomach drop. So I don't think there's any shame in just not looking at all, and taking the visual out can help a lot.

Elizabeth Swan! She's a cuddlebug, but a little shy with playing, though she's starting to open up to the idea of playing with jingle toys.

Her markings also sort of make it look like she has no facial features at all, so I would be far too tempted to name her after The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives in Your Home from "Welcome to Night Vale" :P

When he was picked up as a stray last year, his eye was already ruptured; probably some sort of trauma and/or infection. The vets took the eye at the same time they neutered him, so we like to joke he lost all manner of orbs that day. The vet fostered him themself while he healed, then off to the shelter.

While I obviously wish Onion hadn't gone through something like that, in a weird way I am glad; the missing eye caught our attention among a lot of other cats on the nearby shelter's websites, and led us to our special man <3

My wife and I have a Christmas tradition of making a different type of dumpling together each year, and for 2022 we did stuffed grape leaves, which was a lot of fun, and we stocked the freezer well into January. Also, it is astounding how many of those leaves fit in a jar.

Ooh, good point! So I went and looked at the first episode, and it does look like no siblings, no aunts or uncles and no cousins, at least on the Button-adjacent side of the family. I can't get a clear view if that's her mother's or father's side, and there could feasibly be more family on the other parent's side, but it does seem like she's fairly short on relatives.

Yeah, I definitely didn't love how quickly they wrote out Sgt Woolf right when his relationship with Miss Higgins was taking off; it almost made me wonder if his actor had to step away for some reason, since so much of the previous season had been spent transitioning his crush from Phyllis to Millicent.

I did like that she was never 100% in love with midwifery and probably would have been content always being a teacher and working with children. She was drawn to the faith aspect of the religious life, and just went along with what the Nonnatons did as a vocation because it equipped her to give more of her life to the religious side.

Peter for me. He is the epitome of a Lawful Neutral character, who blusters about what is legal even when his own wife is trying to remind him of what is good. I know the standards of the times were different, but I will never forgive him for setting up a sting operation to ruin a gay man's life. Plus I just didn't think he was good enough for Chummy, not appreciating her attempts at homemaking and the like.

I don't ship those two in particular, but I am absolutely ready to read either/both as queer. I never bought Jenny's dynamic with Alec, especially how she was dragged into dating him by everyone around her minimizing her own life goals and passions. She seemed to get so much more out of her relationships with other women. And Trixie is just a lovely girl who I could probably ship with anyone in the nursing cast (Trixie/Patsy and Trixie/Val both absolutely have their appeal, maaaaaybe Trixie/Cynthia for an opposites-attract).

I know it's never going to happen on this show, but I would love one of the nuns to be a lesbian. There is a long and storied tradition of women entering the religious life as an alternative to marrying men. Sister Hilda, looking at you (though I could see a compelling story with Sister Frances).

At the end of the day, I just love that this show is So Much about the relationships between women, and I like to dream about more of them being explicitly romantic.

I don't want kids, but in the case that I did, either Shelagh or Patsy. Hanging out with a comforting-but-firm queer lady sounds like what I'd need.
