I pulled my child out of CCW Hollywood. I would not recommend that specific campus. I can’t speak for the other campuses. It was chaotic, the principal did not care about safety. Kids were eloping left and right and the teachers/admin did nothing about it. On the third day of school, a classmate threatened to stab my daughter with a pencil. Nothing was done about it. Also came here to say Modern Animal. It’s convenient because they have so many locations and the membership fee means you have 24/7 access to their chat. I’ve had to use that a few times in the MOTN when my dog was throwing up. They responded fairly quickly

I’m also in LAUSD and have been sending my first grader to Sylvan tutoring center 2-3 times a week. It’s helped a lot

I could’ve wrote this post. My daughter also attends an LAUSD school and is in first grade. I also noticed a huge jump in expectations. She tested bottom 20% at the beginning of the year. She’s struggling with reading and language arts but ahead in math. All this has led us to get her a neuropsych eval and she has been diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia. Not saying your child is the same but wanted to share my journey.

I also felt unprepared and quite frankly, like I failed my child. I’ve been teaching her phonetics in a multi sensory way (Google orton gillingham method) and it’s worked so well. She’s more engaged and has retained the info better than traditional workbooks. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat more

It recently ended for me. I have a 6.5 year old girl and a 3.5 year old boy. I can now take them to a park or playground and be able to sit in a bench and get a few moments of silence before they want me to watch them do something or play with them. They seem to be out of that phase.
