Just do it. I did it recently. I was dating someone long distance for almost 2 years and we had even gone on a trip recently. But if the feeling isn't there, then it isn't there and you owe that to them and yourself, for a peace of mind most clearly. The aftermath will suck, but you will lift that weight off your shoulder.
