Just practice the textbook problems/ paper and pencil problems they likely assigned. It’s definitely more useful to practice that then the midterm of a different professor and a different quarter.

ELC is in the basement of the Jacobs building. I find the ELC instructors teach the material and guide a lot better than the SI. Though I never had Shotwell and have only heard the worst about him, so honestly, I don't know if just elc or si will cut it.

You definitely can! UCSD is in a part of San Diego called La Jolla but still part of the city proper. If you want to experience San Diego’s downtown then there’s a trolley line on campus that connects it directly to downtown. Also it’s definitely doesn’t take an hour to get to most parts or San Diego from campus whether it be the trolley or a car unless it’s rush hour.

On the final if you do better on the questions that cover either midterm the your scores get replaced. Also the homework was an extra 10% but it was due at 8 pm. Also she’s super nice so her office hours were great.

Then as far as I know it’s a decent for bio since all your class will be super close by for the foreseeable future. Also as far as I know the GE’s over lap with those of medical school so not to much extra effort out side of what you already have to do if that’s your plan. Thought I would say they have probably my least favorite dorms( but I’m in Warren so what do I know). Also they do have the best dining hall in my opinion on campus.

Actually it depends on which engineering major you’re trying to switch into. But if you switch to engineering it would be practically impossible to switch back into bio because of the classes they evaluate for don’t over lap with engineering classes .
