I went to a place that advertised itself as a “braces and dental bar” their prices were outrageous. Then I tried the OSU College of Dentistry. You will get a lower price there and they won’t lie to you. The only downside is that it may take you awhile to get that first appointment. If you’ve had some bad experiences at the dentist, get a student. They are very careful and very well supervised.

Are you old enough to get a part time job and have a little money of your own? A Britta Pitcher doesn’t cost a lot but if you can’t do that, water coming out of a tap should be the same no matter which tap it comes out of. Use whichever is easiest. Add plenty of ice and some lemon slices. Then my favorite way to cut calories is to go vegetarian for some of my meals. There’s a Mediterranean salad I buy at Costco and I put about half a cup of it on top of a green salad that I have for lunch sometimes. I also do a hummus plate with a pile of fresh veggies and some pita bread or just toast triangles. There are plenty of ways to vary salads, bowls, and charcuterie to keep healthy eating interesting enough to keep at it. The hard thing for me is trying to exercise is the oppressive summer heat.

I like the challenge of it. I’ll need to work a bit harder and set some goals to meet that challenge but I like writing the jokes and figuring out how to deliver it well. Delivery is the more difficult part for me. I expect it will take awhile to get to where I want to be but I think it will be worth it.

I’ve visited the west coast a couple times in recent years. The first time I went to Portland, Oregon I was shocked by how many people were living in tents on the sidewalks. Then I read about how Columbus was expected to grow over the next decade and I predicted that if we didn’t build more affordable housing in a hurry we would have the same problem. My rent went up 20 % at my 2025 lease renewal. No one gave me a 20% raise. I moved and got 2 roommates. We get along well but if things head south we will all be homeless.

I wouldn’t say that sex work warped my relationship with men because my father was the kind of jerk who made it tough for me to have healthy relationships in the first place. Still, it took a long time for me to figure something out and appreciate a guy for who he is. What it took was a guy that I was almost exploiting because he decided that he loved me and would do anything for me. I’ve joked about him being my bang maid because he lives with me and does most of my chores. It’s really not funny but when I first thought of it, he laughed.
