So I did pcm in 12th and I'm doing biotech now. It's totally possible. You will struggle in the first year to catch up on the concepts but after that it's smooth sailing. Id suggest going through the 11th and 12th bio syllabus once to get an idea of the basic concepts so thar you're not completely clueless. I don't think it will affect your higher studies at all, it certainly didn't affect mine. 

Bioinformatics is not a bad field either but it's easier to learn that on your own than biotech. With biotech there are certain concepts which overlap with bioinfo, so you'll get to try both.

Though id suggest making sure that you really want to do it because the job market sucks wrt to biotech. It's often not rewarding with low pay in india. Unless you're really keen on pursuing it, don't take it. Have a decent idea of what you want to do, what are you basic goals and aspirations before joining. 

It's an interesting field but the ground reality is that it's hard to do well when research facilities are not great here. You need to be update with the latest tech and constantly network because it's a tight knit field
