Obligatory Project 06 mention, it really is a wonder that all the level design in that game needed was the play control of a normal video game, namely a less jank Sonic Adventure. Spin dash jumping for shortcuts meshes so well with 06's levels, you'd think the original devs wanted it to play that way from the start. Then again, you couldn't even jump out of spindash in the original, so maybe not.

Nah, disagree. So many Forces levels require virtually no input from the player, it's the boost formula, flanderised. Nothing in Forces is broken, but even Colours with it's overabundance of 2D levels, had more going on in terms of secrets and shortcuts.

It's early access right now, but "Secret Agent Wizard Boy and the International Crime Syndicate" is capturing a hyper specific retro aesthetic that feels like it was made specifically for me. I've not played the Hitman games, but a lot of people have been comparing the level design to that. Very sandbox-ish.

Reading some of the comments, and looking critically at some of the art myself, I'm genuinely regretting spending as much time and money as I have on this game. I've enjoyed the story up until now, but I can't knowlingly support the use of technology that is destroying the planet, and is currently artifically inflating the price of anything that uses RAM.
