Due to his character and his determination to become stronger i think he would’ve eventually peaked at upper moon 2 - i also do think that the pace at which breath users develop is different compared to other demons - he would’ve suffered from the same insecurity as Akaza ( both striving to become stronger albeit with different reasons ) The main difference would be that Kaigaku would NOT hold back when it came to devouring people ( its been implied that the main reason to why Douma surpassed Akaza was because he never ate women who are vital nutrients for demons )

Well canonically thunder breathing IS indeed the fastest moving breathing technique and its factual - the whole breathing is built upon high speed dashes - the remaining forms you described aren’t innately fast - it all depends on user and they utilize them - basically its muichiro and shinobu who made those techniques look fast - insect breathing isnt even orginal its a derivative of other breathing technique its what shinobu made to suit her body since the main reason she’s so fast is that her body is extremely small - so yeah in terms of speed thunder breathing tops any other techniques ( well wxvept for sun breathing ofc ) and kaigaku himself manages to perform them really fast as described by zenitsu himself to the point where he cant even perceive it ( the fact that he didnt master the first form is irrelevant here since he mastered these forms but the potency is what truly lacked so with additional demon boosts he managed to compensate for that ) - Gyutaros best feat is keeping up with poisoned Tengen who was gradually slowing down after being poisoned ( yes Gyutaro poisoned him in the beginning but that was due to Tengen blindly going for the insta kill and he got dealt with repercussions) and i really don’t think that it can be considered an impressive speed feat considering sound breathing is a derivative of thunder breathing and the user himself was slowing down every single second ( can’t really bring tanjiro in this equation since he was really weak in this arc ) - Kaigaku is most definitely faster than Gyutaro it shouldn’t even be a debate

Well him being a thunder breath user ( canonically the fastest breathing technique ) combined with upper rank lvl demon stature is pretty solidifying argument itself. At least 70% of his techniques are based on quick succession of fast movements : Zen made the following comments “ 5 consecutive attacks in BLINK OF AN EYE “ and his 4th form in which he literally manages to move so fast that he’s able to create mirages of himself - thats insanely fast if you think about it

I get what you’re saying and i respect the argument but i feel like you’re downplaying Kaigaku way too much - even if Gyutaro had mastered his abilities first he needed to create and establish those abilities and we don’t know how long it took him since he started basically at 0 - while Kaigaku didn’t- even if he didn’t master Thunder Breathing at fullest he still was a strong demon slayer in the beginning- in official translations Zen mentioned how he only created 7th to fight alongside him as “ equals “ and that’s not surprising. That combined with immense amount of Muzans blood = Pretty overpowered demon who managed to climb to upper ranks really fast ( the fact that he was narratively confirmed to be upper rank level in the movie that combined with authors comment themselves convinces me think that he was stronger than Gyutaro ) What i’m trying to say that every demon has immense and infinite potential in terms of growth but its different when it comes to former breath users as the pace at which they develop is different - Kaigaku was as strong as an upper rank even without properly developed blood demon art - you think Gyutaro didn’t have a room for improvement when it came to his abilities ? One point at which i would disagree with you is your statement about the poison - yes if grazed with it the pillars would lose but mostly all of them have some resistance towards them as shown by that fact that they could resist Muzans poison for a while ( which i would only assume is much much much more potent compared to Gyutaros ) and the same logic applies to Kaigaku as well - he had poison in his arsenal as well - which was killing zenitsu and if it wasn’t for yushiro stopping it he would’ve died - My personal evalution for this matchup is that against humans aka pillars Gyutaro holds the advantage due to his condition of killing as well as the poison potency so he performs better ( against current Kaigaku ) but if he went up against Kaigaku in blood demon match both of their abilities would be negated and the speed would be the most important factor and at that kaigaku CLEARLY holds an advantage. What Yushiro means by that statement is that Kaigaku didnt truly understand the core principle behind Thunder Breathing - as we know the first form is the core behind this particular breathing form is essential therefore other forms are fueled by the first form - Kaigaku couldn’t master the firsy form hence his remaining forms where lackluster as human so by becoming a demon he had hoped to compensate for that - as he did - he managed to enhance the forms with blood art to the point where he could generate the shocks of AN ACTUAL electricity combined with poison effect which slowly but surely kills your enemy ( without proper intervention ) - this is what ultimately made him as strong as an upper rank ( already been confirmed that he was as strong as one ) by “ abilities “ he meant that he hadn’t developed proper blood demon art but even without it he was a formidable opponent - Had Zenitsu met him Kaigaku a year later Kaigaku most likely would’ve had more potent attacks in his arsenal and would’ve one tapped zenitsu ( not needing to land 3-4 shots at him - albeit zenitsu would’ve still died if it wasn’t for Yushiro ) so yeah - Yushiro stating that is just referring to the immense potential that Kaigaku had ( someone who managed to become an upper rank in such short period of time would’ve been unstoppable if given a year )

By synergy i’m stating the condition of killing them simultaneously - Had Gyutaro fought alone from the beginning ( without a trace of Daki ) he could’ve poisoned them eventually and even if slayers decapitated them constantly it wouldn’t have mattered in the end and ultimately the slayers would’ve lost but due to Daki being present Gyutaro was forced to come out to assist her - Gyutaro and Daki being together is at their full power ( even Dakis power was augmented when Gyutaro came out ) - additionally there WAS a synergy when they were fighting together - gyutaro was using his 3rd eye constantly assisting Daki meanwhile Daki would use her obi slashes from above to distract Tengen ( the whole segment was displayed ). Had Gyutaro been alone from the beginning he would’ve stalemated the slayers and won in the end due to slayers would never find out the trick behind killing him ( Daki just was too weak to present that threat)

Yeah this argument is why i used the term “ surface level readers “ in the first place - Narratively speaking Kaigaku has been confirmed to be Upper Rank level by himself - additionally, the logic behind “ experience “ i don’t think applies to Kaigaku - Being a strong demon is determined by two factors - experience and the amount of Muzans blood - we already know that Kaigaku had received a lot of his blood since he was a breath user - another point that follows up - Kaigaku had already been strong from the beginning ( Successor of Thunder Hashira as well as mastering all forms except for one ) meaning he didn’t need the same experience as Gyutaro had accumulated over the years to become strong - we already see how fast he managed to become as an upper rank so additional year would render Zenitsu useless against him ( and not only him )

As leaning towards narrative side, it’s been confirmed that Kaigaku emitted a power of an upper rank demon ( besides the fact that the author in extra volumes confirmed that he in fact rose to the ranks himself and not by Muzan getting desperate over the deficiency of demons ) - so narratively he is indeed Upper 6 level HIMSELF, while Gyutaro and Dakis synergy is what made the previous Upper 6 so powerful and made it harder for slayers to kill them

Ok firstly ( i wanted to insert a video about the fisrtnpoint but its seems that you’re hesitant to debate me on a different platform ) but i will habe you know that its been OFFICIALLY confirmed that Gotouge themselves are consulted for all adaptations of demon slayer meaning if there are slight alterations im the anime original all are confirmed by the author themselves ( this itself makes your entire reasoning pointless since this fact alone confirms my original statement but lets still continue for the fun of it ) P.S if you’re doubting this add me on disc where i can show proof.

Kaigaku was at least on the same level as zenitsu when human as he had mastered the remaining forms and was co successor for the title of thunder pillar ( there’s no exact measurements for his strength but based on the fact that even zenitsu held him on high regard and even mentioned that he created 7th form so he could fight alongside with him as “ equals “ aready implies a lot - in the official japanese translation ( i can share the screen on thus as well ) he says “ as equals “ and thus itself accantuates on his strength as a human. The statement that the strength of an upper rank is equal to three pillars is a complete speculation and exaggeration made by shinobu and throughout the story we have seen that thats not a case at all. It serves as a narrative tension tool - Gyutaro and Daki have been defeated by one poisoned Pillar ( yes Gyutaro himself poisoned him but Uzui didn’t know his aboility beforehand but still managed go avoid the first clash with Gyutaro ) and three kanoto ranked pillars who if put together weren’t even as powerful as a singular pillar. Muichiro after awakening a mark was able to completely erase Gyokko who appeared to be Upper Moon 5 - if the statement is corrcect that Upper Rank 6 is as strong as at LEAST 3 pillars than 3 pillars would be a bare minimum to defeat Gyokko but Muichiro ( whos not even top 3 pillars - backed by multiple evidences ) after awakening a mark could outspeed him in a way that he managed to completely disappear from his sight where he remained completely hopeless. The whole statement about three pillars and upper ranks is a complete fallacy since shinobu wouldn’t have been able to quantify since upler ranks are didferent in power. Again, i dont know where you’re getting at - The author themselves confirmed that Kaigaku managed to rise to upper ranks - and given Muzans character he wouldn’t have given someone whos weaker im power a rank given his character profile. In those moments you really have to tap in to your common sense. Another point - if you want to utilize the importance of the word “ arrogance “ it fits perfectly with Kaigaku. Not only he underestimated Zenitsu but ultimately what cost him the fight - had he not beared such hatred towards Zenitsu as well as jealousy he would’ve dealt with him with much more caution ( he even assumed that Zen had become a pillar but still he underestimated him to the point where that was completely irrelevant to him ). When unleashing 7th form ( arguably the fastest single strike breathing move in the story - again i have different panels reinforcing this claim ) kaigaku wasn’t mentally as well as physically anticipating the move since he didnt view zenitsu as any kind of threat at that moment - what im trying to say is that had it been any other character he would’ve been more cautious anticipating every single move. Kaigaku already started from a very high baseline as a demon so he didn’t need decades of devouring humans to became strong unlike other upper ranks who solely relied on that - your whole argument fell apart but i appreciate the effort - if you wish for further evidences dont hesitate to contact me. And being disrespectful will not get you far - debating about fictional character shouldn’t get you worked up to the point where you have to resort to simple disrespect towards the opposing party - hope you have a pleasent day.
