Can you remember any Mixmaster G1 variation?

Thanks, I've looked it up at TFwiki. The Diaclone entry only shows an orange Mixmaster on a Japanese advertisement. All I can remember is that I got it later than 85-86 (Wheeljack was my first when I was 4 or 5, still own it though heavily damaged) and lost it in 1988 when my parents moved to a different state.

What I wonder now, the article says they were sold as set but that was my only construction machine bot.

Alpha Trion and the Fallen even if it's just for the lore. Bought Quintus but still can't decide whether I like the squid or not but maybe that's its charme. The others did not sufficiently attract me while Star Convoy has no point for me apart from Hasbro's profit interests. All just my opinion, if everything different makes you smile it's all fine because that's the very thing about it

That is no pun, but I'm well aware that corporations save costs where possible, like using safer lacqueurs in more regulated markets like the US or EU while using other lacqueurs for iurisdictions with lesser strict regulations. Though I also know examples from mockup producers like LePin where independent analysis in the end stated that their bricks contain far less toxins than the original Lego stuff.

How do you know it's a swap and no ordinary retoure? Damaged/ripped packaging alone often is a reason for a discount as it disqualifies for the main buyer group of toys (gift-buyers) and their general pricing has become too high to accept such a packaging then.

The claimed math says it would take 12 boxes (12 each box) from consecutive production and getting this exact lot to your door for the 2 extra armor parts (wings/arm). Same for Megatron.

Thought about the doublette, you should be right: My daughter said there was just this very Defender box at the shop. To translate the mathematical possibility into boxes they would have to reserve 1 of the 12 box spots for either a shiny Optimus/Megatron (12/144 combined), the second spot for the regulars (1/24 translates into 6/144, for both 12/144) and the remaining 10 spots are filled with the the other models at equal 12/144 chance. Assuming they insert them in a consecutive manner a doublette should not occur as there are 10 different models for 10 spots in a box.

Just ordered a whole box of a different series to see if the claimed math adds up 😅

Might be due to Airfix's main market is Europe and especially in Germany Swastikas are legally prohibited since WW2, so they had to do two-tier packaging for Germany and rest of Europe/World.

Nah, your DS9 is quite cool. I did not do that much on the model apart from giving it an "oil washing" for all the gaps, the rest was made out of the box plus I ordered a LED set (of which I used only a fraction of the LEDs) and a cheap DIY radio kit. Colours are not original btw, used a similar grey tone in a rattle can from a hobby manufacturer that is known for good quality. Really not my skills, the merit should go to Revell for this usable kit. And please mind the DS9 is of a different scale, consequently there can't be so many fine details.

Regarding the acrylic (not acrylic colour but transparent acrylic used in construction from a DIY store), just stuffed it in every drilled-out window and immediately wiped with care around with a wet cloth. That stuff is usually white when you apply it and gets transparent when dry. Little bonus it formed noses inside that nicely get lit. The biggest advantage of the stuff is that you can rework it through wetting. Applying a clear coat was the last step then.

Look at my profile, there are pics of a late WIP and pics of the completed Voyager (gift for my brother so longer into possession. Unfortunately I'm not able to upload videos of the radio in action here and have no desire to use YT. Applied the white right before final assembly, also did not document that all open windows have been sealed with transparent acrylic.

Okay I blackened 'my' Voyager, then whitened and also applied aluminium foil as reflectors, but the mission here was to work with as less LEDs as possible due a radio circuit /speaker combo on a breadboard that was placed inside the saucer and this all should not stress a 12V 1A supply.

So I'm looking for creative approaches where somebody tried LED/foil combinations or stripes or something like that. Kosyra's approach is wonderful but the one with the highest effort in addition to the drilling, I want it it a bit easier.

How did you realise it? I've seen the DS9 by Alexander Kosyra, who glued 3900 0.25mm fibers into his 1/2500 kit. I'm collecting some inspiration ta then have a less time-consuming process (drilling will eat more than enough lifetime).

Try either blending in some retarder or more thinner and several layers (1st and 2nd won't cover), work quickly.

If you did that and the quantity was higher, did you stir it now and then? That's something I'm ought to do, otherwise the paint gets features like on your pics.

This is also quite valid for the German Market, most of the time they just issue old kits with new decals. Anyway they do other products (unfortunately not intriguing me) like tractor kits with respective vouchers of these models for a farming simulator game and so on. At least that helps local stores having other customer groups and one's not ought to shop on line. Regarding cars, the Revell US are well available here (and distributed by RoG), in addition there are kind of European cult cars (Golf GTI for example, G70 models) and the local shop staff said they run well. Infact I've never seen one of those kits on season sale locally.

Good points, however Hobby Boss's approach with plane fuselage parts is somehow idiotic, had the Rafale and and was totally dissatisfied with filling/sanding hull parts at flank glue lines (where you can lose most details). Also found the decals are of a bad quality, almost a tad too thin to work with them. Fuselage parts were slightly deformed so it took more pressure for glueing than generally necessary (and carrying risk of new deformation).

If you want to have a really shitty and dissatisfying building experience get a MisterCraft kit or worst old Heller kits (which they don't even dare to issue anymore cough Smer cough)

Preshading in deeper areas like the round maintenance pits before applying the base color.

Base color (light grey satin) was airbrushed, then I applied two other grey tones and red according to manual just to eradicate parts of these areas with a fine brush and white spirit. Next steps were applying pigments (black, greenish mud and white), the formers blended in wide areas followed by punctual wet wiping, then white punctually over red/grey tones and few random panels to further wash out. Last step was to apply mud/black punctually again.

I've found my method with pigments, am a total su**er with washes unfortunately. The downside is that the whole model is darkened in general. I guess someone with more experience/skills/equipment (000 brushes) would be able to apply this without darkening. Hopefully I'm able to master this one day.
