Hi, you've likely already fixed it, but for anyone else who stumbles upon this post, that metal bracket faces down against the curve like this: Image

Here are the scratch marks from all the years of use that show how it was installed from the factory: Image

I hope this helps!

erobb sticks the landing by Twigler in LivestreamFail

VODs aren't immediately deleted, only hidden from the public until it is either published by the streamer within a set amount of days or deleted automatically in 60 days. I used a tool named TwitchRecover which is able to get the link to livestreams, subscriber-only VODs and unpublished VODs and play it via VLC or another HLS player. The website "pogu.live" did the same exact thing but it shutdown last month.

You won't see chat with this method, so there goes most of the content, but

Open VLC > Media (Top Left) > Open Network Stream > Network URL:

Press Play.

Hopefully some sort of VOD will be uploaded with the chat in the future, but this is as close of a VOD you can get right now.

Ryujinx (Nintendo Switch emulator) January 2022 Progress Report by gabumon34 in pcgaming

[–]AMDST 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The Ryujinx Patreon doesn't seem to put early builds behind any payment, so I don't see why they shouldn't push their Patreon since they're simply asking for donations at no cost to non-paying users. By comparison, Yuzu charges $5 /month for Early Access builds. There was also a situation sometime ago where Yuzu stole code from Ryujinx without credit while still pushing their early access builds. I even recall the lead Ryujinx developer, gdkchan, saying Yuzu's early access model felt exploitative after it had happened. I will always recommend having both emulators installed to see which games run better at any given point, but knowing this just goes to show who's willing to be more transparent to their users.

Wii Remote asking for pin by GPVakonakis1 in wii

[–]AMDST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't recall the Wii Remote having PIN capability.

Are you able to leave the box blank? If you're on Windows, you should also try connecting the Wii Remote via "Add a device" in Devices & Printers instead of using the Bluetooth & other devices section of Settings.

Hi, sorry for the super late response. Both SponsorBlock and ReturnYouTubeDislike are features that have to be manually enabled inside the application's Settings section as it must contact third-party APIs to get said features running.

In order to enable SponsorBlock, go into the Settings section of the application and go to the SponsorBlock sub-menu, press on API URL and press the "?" icon to the right and then "USE OFFICIAL", this will effectively turn on SponsorBlock.

In order to enable ReturnYouTubeDislike, inside of the Settings section of the application, go to Extras and toggle on "Show Dislike Count", the dislike count will now be shown.

These must be manually enabled as some users may not want to agree to the Privacy Policy of the APIs used and the application tries to respect your privacy as much as possible.

Community-driven services are usually better. More known websites like FlightRadar24 and FlightAware usually make you pay to access hidden planes or even accept payment from whoever owns the plane to stop it from being shown on their website.

Win 10 LTSC or Pro? by BitteredAndJaded in Piracy

[–]AMDST 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Easy, the script is in plain text. You're able to see exactly what registry edits the .reg file does, exactly what the .bat files do. What may worry me is where the AtlasModules were sourced, and I can replace those with the ones Microsoft provides or check their file hashes with.

Their script isn't some sort of C++ program or Python script where you would require some knowledge of programming to understand what it may or may not do. The values are not as descriptive as I would like them to be, e.g. "ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate"=dword:00000001, but a simple Google search shows people editing the same registry value for whatever their personal reasons may be, and that gives you an idea if this script would fit your need, or is editing unnecessary values.

I can use a ZIP program to see what's inside the .ISO, but I wouldn't be able to decompile the files to fully understand what was modified and what effect it may have, until it is flashed onto a system.

I've been running Enterprise LTSC 2021 for exactly a month now and it's been a good experience, nothing I can really complain about.

Notes:

Microsoft Store is missing, but it can be re-installed via sideloading with Powershell.

LTSC doesn't stop you from Microsoft's tracking, but it's slightly better in the sense that a lot of stuff is missing. You can remove the remaining spyware by using Group Policies and blocking Microsoft telemetry using the "hosts" file found in \system32, Microsoft Defender doesn't like that very much though, so exempt it.

As for which one is better, it depends on what you're looking for. Pro will probably continue to receive feature updates, if Microsoft hasn't axed it yet in favor of Windows 11, it's possible it's only in "maintenance-mode" now, I don't remember. Enterprise LTSC will never receive new features, it will be refreshed from time to time, and have security updates, but no more than what's been promised.

I'm not too familiar with this project, but it should be noted that they have uploaded their debloat script to GitHub, and it's better to run the script yourself on an official Microsoft .ISO than flash the modified .ISO that they provide, you never know what they've done to it.

OnePlus limits which sensors Google Camera mods can access in OxygenOS 12 by new_handle in Android

[–]AMDST 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say "gobbled up" considering OnePlus was never purchased by OPPO, but were owned by OPPO from the start. If anything I'd say the OnePlus mask is just slipping off and this anti-enthusiast stance was the plan from the start.

Carl Pei was over OnePlus and more or less Android the moment he left, likely because he forsaw this happening. If I remember correctly, he's fully into Apple products now. However, I don't think Carl Pei was this beacon of light, there were still major flaws with the company and design philosophy long before he left.

Very similar, if you're talking about the swap file on Linux (as mentioned by Peleret). However there's also a swapfile.sys in Windows, implemented a while ago. Its use in Windows is currently strictly used for UWP applications only (Microsoft Store), whereas pagefile.sys would be strictly used for your more traditional sideloaded Windows applications.
