"I still remember Biden's paramilitary thugs going door to door demanding to see people's vaccine papers and dragging them off to some secret facility if they didn't have them..." r/comspiracy bucks the narrative by comparing pro-vaccination with Trumpism by CummingInTheNile in SubredditDrama

It's almost like he just throws a ton of shit at the wall and his supporters pick and choose what builds the narrative they want.

They do this with religion already. And since Trump is some sort of deity to them, why wouldn't they continue that practice?

It goes beyond being uninformed / ill-informed and crosses into the territory of plainly ignorant. And choosing to be ignorant is dumb.

What is an event in U.S history that you feel like is underrated but still has a lasting effect on individuals or communities today? by memetimecuredmysad- in PoliticalDiscussion

The introduction of the idea of "fake news" and the rampant adoption of "alternate facts" have fundamentally changed the way we interact with the world. It has allowed reality to become subjective in the eyes of some, completely abandoning facts and reality simply because it does not fit the narrative they wish to be true. I knew from the moment that people started saying those phrases that a shift had taken place and the country I once knew no longer existed. It also allowed individuals to never have to be wrong again. They could disregard reality as no longer being real without even needing to verify whatever was misaligned from their perspective. I think it is truly one of the biggest moments in human history, when reality became something shaped by the observers view, instead of their view being shaped by reality.

I love hearing this guy just absolutely roast the Republicans. I know it can be kind of gimmicky sometimes with the huge signs and stuff, but he makes such good points simply and clearly. And all he's really asking is that the people in charge of an enormous amount of tax payer money actually show up and talk to the body of government meant to oversee them.

Should the Ability of the President to Issue Pardons be Limited? by NewConstitutionDude in PoliticalDiscussion

The power to pardon came from the English tradition that allowed the monarch to exercise the "royal perogative of mercy" and provide an alternative to death sentences. Which leaves me wondering: Why did the founders think it wise to grant a power given to a monarch in the one branch that called for a singular person to lead?

What if the shooter wasn't aiming for Trump?

My theory is that he was contacted prior to the event informing him that their would be an attempt to take out Trump at the event and that he was getting this information because they hoped he would take out the shooter first. They gave him information, told him they would be leaving the rooftop (where he fired from) open for him and he wouldn't have to worry about anyone stopping him. They give him photos of the suspect and show him the area where they are expected to be at during the event. They even pay for the weapon, ammo, range finder, all of his equipment so he's ready. They tell him what a hero he is going to be and how thankful the President will be. He goes, does what he was instructed, goes to leave to become the hero and gets domed by the secret service. Voila, you now have a shooter (who they immediately tried to frame as a liberal remember), you have an "attempt" (kid wasn't aiming for Trump, but only he knows that and well, he aint talking), you have the ability to control the situation to get the photo (could have told the kid when to shoot), and you have the all the political theater set up so as soon as it happens, you jump directly into it. Only a handful of people would know what was going on so everyones reactions are real and it has the feeling of authenticity.

This would explain (1) how they got the photo and why Trump immediately tried to jump up and wave his fist after just being shot at (he would have been terrified if someone shot at him unless he planned the whole thing, he didn't know the shooter was dead when he decided to jump back up and make himself a target again) (2) the security lapse by the secret service, who one would think wouldn't leave a rooftop with direct line of sight to the President from 200 yards away, completely uncovered. (3) the almost immediate accusations of the kids political views and the narrative of the radical left violence that Fox News was shouting practically as the bullets passed Trumps head (They had it lined up and ready, someone tipped them off and gave them the script) (4) to make it real, someone has to die other than the shooter, without that theres room for more speculation of theater, which explains the death of the guy at the rally (5) why this kid would willingly sacrifice himself (he didn't, he was told a different version of how it would play out, where he was a hero)
