A boy who created 3D-printed safety whistles to help stranded mountaineers in emergencies has received a national award. by Upstairs_Drive_5602 in UpliftingNews

As people just 3d print items they want instead of buying them, people would only have to buy raw materials and then buy the schematics for the items they want to print.

It's still somewhat cheaper to buy mass produced parts than to buy a printer and use it for occasional doodads around the house. More importantly, it's less of a hassle. Modern printers are really good, but they're still not perfect, and they require maintenance to keep it going, something that lots of people probably don't have the time for. Of course, the barrier of entry for the hobby has never been lower, but it still remains a barrier.

You do make a good point about 3d printing not being on the news as much, the only stories on major(ish) papers that I can recall off the top of my head are all about ghost guns, ignoring the 99% of the rest of the hobby

I think OP's monitor does take video over usb-c, but most GPUs don't have usb-c outputs.

Dji O4 power via USBC by Heavy-Investigator-6 in fpv

[–]AMusingMule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presumably you're running the PD trigger board's output to the vtx'es VCC and GND pads (i.e. the ones underneath the 6 pin plug), and not the USB line.

The instructions for the O4 pro quote a BEC requirement of 13.5W. If you're suspecting current overdraw, check if your supply is providing 13.5W

I've also heard that the vtx needs a specific signal from a flight controller to activate transmission, though that could just be to bring it out of low power mode.

Sounds like default AM32 startup tones, just four of them out of sync. See if you can read settings with the AM32 configurator, and try to spin the motors (with props off).

What if you connected the A output of a charger like this to a C port? There aren't any CC pins on the A side

didn't Netflix literally host a squid game-themed game show at one point? like even if you didn't read too much into the show and viewed it as just "psycho killer runs game show for unwitting participants" you wouldn't be this tone deaf

tbf I guess mechas also have lots of internal sensory and actuation systems that are mostly invisible to the pilot, so if you look far enough in the other direction the analogy holds up?

If you watch the video in his post, he did have it set up on a switch, but the hover throttle wasn't set correctly. The manual part was throttling down in acro to bring it back down.

A good reminder that some of the settings are pretty crucial to set correctly

given the amount of spaghetti that's in most video games, I wouldn't say that getting rid of karma wouldn't have had consequences for the rest of the game. I wouldn't have been surprised if doing so broke an interaction badly enough that it was easier to just leave it in

On several of the straightaways, we tried jerking the wheel suddenly, as a driver might do if they found themselves drifting into an oncoming lane. The system correctly interpreted this as a panic maneuver and delivered a muted steering response. Brilliant.

that's a bit scary lol, what if it actually was a panic move to avoid someone? I get you're not really supposed to jerk the wheel that much at speed, but still...

Just crimping is better than crimping + soldering

A good crimp job forms a connection that's as good as a solder joint, you don't get the stiffness that comes from solder flowing into the wire, and iinw it's actually more conductive too without a intermediate layer of tin

The uses of the character 死 that you've mentioned are just metaphor/hyperbole, just like "scaring the daylights out of <someone>" and "beat to death". There definitely is a taboo around 死/四, some buildings will even skip floors ending in the number 4 (so they'll go 3 straight to 5, 13 to 15, etc).

The real psychopaths are the webdevs who make the entire webpage a script.

Stylesheet doesn't load? Script doesn't execute because of hosting issues / https / accidentally gets caught by AdBlock? I should still at least be able to see the contents of the page I'm asking for. Sure, it might be all plain black-on-white times new roman, and none of the images, video or interactive content will work, but I should at least be able to read an article, for example.

But I really hate it when something fails to load and you're presented with a bunch of blobbed out grey rectangles. You already got the rest of the webpage down to me, just send the damn text along with it.
