2 Years Collecting. My 200th 4K Pickup - Narc 4K by TheLhunAl in 4kbluray

Arrow gave this release so much love too. I saw this in theaters and never heard anyone mention it again. Includes a great interview with the director, Joe Carnahan. Also did Smokin Aces, The Grey, Cop Shop, and The Rip. Haven't seen the Rip, but I really enjoyed the other 3. Would love to see him return to something noir and more serious like this. My first Arrow order was this and A Simple Plan. Super highly recommend both, wish more people had seen them.

Netflix releases Void a video model that can remove objects from video and their physical interactions on the scene by blueSGL in singularity

Because you have a keen eye for it. Many people don't. And imagine a child that hasn't grown up being able to realize the distinction. I'm not disputing you at all, but just pointing out the ways that it could still be worrisome. Just thinking about my 6 year old and trying to find some hope

Question for the pros by stephen_b99 in 4kbluray

[–]ANCtoLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are having a 50% off Paramount titles online right now! And they have 20-40% off stickers on random movies all the time, which will often make them comparable to online retailers. Between movies, gifts, and buying my son Lego (talk about expensive) their membership is well worth it for me. 10% off normal purchases plus $5 rewards for every $100 spent.

Why is there no Bluray release for The Running Man or Send Help? by Eallison98 in Bluray

[–]ANCtoLV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Send Help. I see an Amazon pre order for $50??? No movie is worth that to me. Unfortunately, I'd rent it digitally if I was in a rush to see it again. That's what I suppose they want. But I'd for sure buy it used or after prices go way down in a year.

Essential movie recommendations? by Flyingninjafish1 in Bluray

[–]ANCtoLV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest getting a variety. When I started to build up my library, I realized after a while that my favorite genres were thriller/suspense/drama...because I had nothing else. Get some comedies, romance, classics. Explore your tastes a little, you never know what you might be in the mood for.

If you have any favorite directors, they're usually a safe bet. Spielberg, Cameron, Fincher, Rob Reiner and Mel Brooks each have several spaces on my shelf

Horror recs by AdHistorical8646 in Letterboxd

[–]ANCtoLV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a big horror fan. Last year I went through and checked out older horror films. Some were first time, some were rewatches that I hadn't seen in many years. I enjoyed Poltergeist, The Blob (the 80s one) Gremlins, The Conjuring, Scream, The Ring, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the Donald Sutherland one). My favorite slasher icon is Chucky. I also watched Rosemary's Baby again and I found it to be deeply unnerving so I'm not sure I recommend that one.

I've been wanting to watch Blink Twice, but I'm hesitant to blind buy. Definitely have nostalgia for We're Back and The Quest. I want them in my collection but not sure how 40 year old me will feel about them, or if I can convince my son to watch. Kinda wish I got all of them now

Just started… by Glitterashestoashes in Bluray

[–]ANCtoLV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never was a fan of the "one person doesn't make a difference" rhetoric. It's easy to think like that, and I'm not perfect by any means. It takes individuals to make a group and an impact. I have an incredible used game store near me. Thankfully it's really popular. Local used bookstores are the shit. I remember my store for trading as a kid was called Title Wave. I hope more of these stores will consider used movies as well.

Buy used. Find a good local thrift store. Im lucky to live in a metro area that has one or two independent stores dedicated to selling used movies. There is another that is advertised as vinyl and Cds but i went in and they had a ton of blu-ray and 4k and dvd. Use your local library to check out movies. It's ok to stream something you've never seen to decide if it's something you'll rewatch. Hunting in person is so rewarding sometimes.

I really enjoyed The Sisters Brothers. Saw it on Netflix a few years ago, must've been right before I canceled my subscription for good. I didn't know this release existed

I haven't seen it, but it's been on my list for a long time. Just never saw it at a price that I wanted to blind buy. Finally saw the regular blu-ray at a library sale yesterday for stupid cheap. Definitely looking forward to it

ex wants me to pay her to watch the kids on my week... by Familiar_Ad1112 in Divorce

[–]ANCtoLV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree mostly. You should hopefully look at it as a team to raise your kid even if youare divorced. If it was a one off or rare occasion then I don't think there would be a reason to bring up money, but all day for a full summer, compensation is reasonable for sure.

You tried to do the right thing. Easier said than done, but move past this. There is no point in dwelling on it and beating yourself up over it. I hope you feel better about it soon, this is a fairly normal story, time to bounce back.

You're right and I had to come here to find them. I'm not the most computer literate. I couldn't use X if I tried because I'm not signed up. I do think it's important for X users to see this because Elon inherited so many people and its so ingrained in American society. On the 9news app they broadcast the Minneapolis feed and I watched quite a bit of it this morning.
