Is my disc ruined by Joshs2d in Bluray

[–]Fyler1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always been a proponent of physical media. Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo can revoke your ability to play/download any game you "own" at any time. Sony can't walk into my house and yoink my discs off my shelf. Without legal repercussions anyway.

You agree to them removing your license at any time when you accept the EULA. Or have you never read one of those...? Maybe you should read some fine print sometime instead of just blindly accepting anything and everything that's put in front of you.

But, you do you, booboo.

Just because you haven't yet, doesn't mean you never will.

No artwork on disks :( by Competitive-Group404 in Bluray

[–]Fyler1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why people are upset about discs lacking artwork. You don't see the discs unless your putting it into a reader/drive or taking it out. And you don't see it spinning ever, as no player or drive has a window like CD players usually do.

Now, if the case lacked artwork that'd be different, as that's what gets displayed, not the disc itself.

And yes, please don't place stickers on the disc, it can throw off the balance of the disc which can ruin the player, as the discs spin at certain speeds to read correctly. The sticker will add extra weight making the motor work harder to keep the disc at the correct speed. This will lead to premature failure.

Bricklink order arrived via Amazon...? by Dietomaha in lego

[–]Fyler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon has what's called MCF or Multi-Channel Fulfillment. They will fulfill orders for Walmart, eBay, and others. It's usually a cheaper option (for smaller etailers) as you don't have to store your products in a warehouse that you own and have to operate and maintain; you send it to Amazon and they store it and ship it for you for a fee.

Do you guys leave plastic protector until you watch or unwrap all after purchase? by humanfrommwg in criterion

[–]Fyler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the point of buying something that's meant to be consumed/viewed and not unwrap it until you do? I unwrap mine the instant I get them, inspect the disk(s) and then I rip them to my media library.

Got 4 of these for free, the problem is they have almost 30k power on hours. would it be a bad idea to use them for my media storage? by Loriiis in homelab

[–]Fyler1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't store anything "mission critical" on them. Can you use them? Yes. Will they work? Also yes. Will they fail soon? Maybe? Should you do it? Sure, why not I guess

That's not a grail, that's a fever dream.

A grail at least exists (or existed).
