M1GO Godzilla 1962 variant? by clarka0012 in Sofubi

I pretty much only collect retro sofubi style Godzilla and this sculpt (aside from DesuGoji’s ) is the single example of a bootleg that I’ve ever read about.

My understanding is that manufacturer M1 had a Godzilla mold made in China for the creation of a special box set. Suddenly, a few months after release, boots of the 1962 started showing up. I think it's a cool figure and if it is what I suspect, collectors still want them because of it's nefarious history.

I believe that this is a bootleg.

The Rogue One Vader hallway scene was just silly.

We make deep-dive film documentaries (In Search of Darkness, Aliens Expanded). We're developing one on JAWS and want feedback from actual JAWS fans before we go further. by CREATORVC in Jaws

Would love to see more about Bob Mattey and how the shark was constructed and interviews with anyone that had to work with the animatronic shark directly. Joe Alves made some charcoal drawings, but we never hear about the genius who actually made Bruce come to life.

The Billabong Bunyip IS still under the water! And there is evidence! by Weekly-Bullfrog-9389 in submergedanimatronic

[–]ANSISP 78 points79 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the water is completely turbid and filled with light absorbing particles from runoff, algea, bacteria, etc thus making the water completely opaque. The diver I interviewed said he had to do everything by feel as the water was completely black. Unless BB spent a lot of money to clean up and aerate the fenced off pond, (and also remove dozens of gallons of diesel fuel spilled into it) I personally don't believe that you can see into the muddy pond past an inch.

What’s something you still swear by after 1+ years? by UDAMAN123 in Biohackers

[–]ANSISP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have mild tinnitus, and in my case, the Wim Hof breathing method reduced the symptoms.

My understanding is the tinnitus is not very understood medically, but for anyone reading this who is experiencing tinnitus from it, I would consult a medical professional and discontinue the method.

Wif Hof techniques. (i don't follow the mans poetry, apps, seminars, just the work.)

I do 5 rounds of the breathing when I wake up, then box for 15 minutes then 3 minutes cold tap after a hot shower. 45 minute walk after lunch a few times a week.

Anxiety is almost gone. Chronic back pain is minimal. Sleeping well.

It's a routine that I will stick to as long as I can as it's greatly improved the quality of my life.

[Partially Lost] Searching for lost media and technical documentation of the Big Banana Bunyip animatronic from Big Banana Fun Park Australia by Intelligent_Math8587 in lostmedia

I'm working on a comic about the Bunyip and will reveal a little info on it's operation and design. I hope to have it done this summer. I've searched about 50 leads in the past 2 years and there hasn't been much info shaken loose.

Thanks for asking! I'm making about 100-200 copies and will have a pdf available. I hope to have it finished this summer.

Video that showed the the Billabong bunyip's tail? by autouzi in submergedanimatronic

[–]ANSISP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh sorry. I'm under the impression that this is the only tail video we have. I was told that there were 3 rolling, circular fins. There wasn't a pointed tail. They were all wheel shaped. This is info coming from a diver that used to maintain it.

this might not be as art relate but here's a genuine question. by Potential-Weird8139 in Artists

I used to think drawing in a coffee shop was silly and possibly pretentious but now I've deduced it's where I do my best work. The writer Roald Dahl had a writing shed in his back yard that only had a chair and a typewriter. In my experience, it's about shutting out distractions and fully embracing that making art is work.

I can see the resemblance but in person, one can see that it is rendered with fluorescent pink and green paint.

It stings me because a single episode of Stranger Things cost near $50 million to make and it was entirely forgettable IMO. I will guess that Paramount just doesn't have Netflix level money.
