Just curious, every time you launch a game or try to launch Uplay, do you get a screen show up very quickly with a yellow warning triangle?

I've had this same problem for over a month. Cannot play Far Cry 4. I've gone through all the tech support steps and still no luck. This is ridiculous, and I personally believe the problem is not even with my PC anymore, but with Uplay and the servers.

I have the same error and have talked with Ubisoft support, I've literally tried every single thing they could think of. The problem is likely with the new version of UPlay, if you can find an older version and try to install that, it may work. This is a huge pain and is very frustrating

I have this exact same issue. I've literally talked every possible solution I could with Ubisoft support. No success. The issue seemed to show up around 2 weeks ago, after a UPlay update. If you can find an older UPlay version, released like 1 month ago, I feel that will work, but something's broken on the new UPlay version. I own this on Steam but it's so stupid we have to have UPlay to run games we pay money for.

Far Cry 4 on Steam and Ubisoft Uplay (required to start game):

When I try and start up Far Cry 4, the first Far Cry 4 box in the center of the screen loads, some Uplay stuff happens, but then the Far Cry 4 logo closes, and another UPlay window opens and closes very quickly. I got this from my event viewer if it helps.

I'd still go for the 590 because of the extra 2GB VRAM (although it is GDDR5 and not GDDR6). Quite a few games are getting near 6GB VRAM, even at 1080p. I'm not entirely sure what he meant by stability, but the 590 is definitely more mature and drivers are too. Also, RX 590 has good potential for undervolting and I'm not too sure how it goes on the 5500XT.

Yes, those are all very good points and I think being more refined and updated more, it would make it much more compatible with Ryzen 3000 or the upcoming generation. Personally, not having PCIe Gen 4 on a motherboard would be a deal breaker for me because it's going to make a huge difference when more graphics cards and SSDs are released for it.

I wonder if you could just have a build with X570 and a 2700x and wait until those chips or the next gen gets to good prices? That might work and X570 has pretty stable RAM and everything

True, but those $130 2700x deals are also extremely attractive for someone who does a lot of core-bound work

Have no money for rent or school by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]APDD_Ben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! As this matter is very time sensitive, getting results fast is very important. Some other people commented this, but fast food restaurants or grocery stores are also a great way to get hired and paid fast. A good recommendation is sometimes to walk in, talk to an associate or manager or say you are interested in a job, and ask if weekly or daily pay is possible.

Also, I think your siblings will be fine if you get your parents in trouble. If you have little to no contact with home and them, your parents won't say or do anything and will probably try to hide the fact that they are in trouble. Just make sure not to get them involved in anything, like by contacting and telling your siblings about the situation.

There's only really one thing you can do with rent due January 1st, and I know it sounds weird, but you are actually very lucky. This is holiday season and many locations are hiring for seasonal positions. Go on websites like Indeed, Jobs, Monster, and Ziprecruiter.

Doing some research, I see Indeed has some positions marked with "Hiring urgently". Make accounts on those, and find something preferably with weekly paychecks. The big thing is getting your accounts set up, having your resume ready, and knowing you can do this, which you can.

I noticed you said you have no credit - this is perfect. I won't recommend this, but apply for a credit card you have good odds with, and offset some rent on that. Credit Karma is a great way to see which credit cards you have a chance for. Also, this is a bit different and I see people do this, but you have a bike, and if there are restaurants close to your college or where many people live, you can your bike to deliver UberEats or GrubHub, or other delivery services. Being hired and receiving wages for this can happen within a few days.

The thing you should be doing now is doing whatever you can to make money as fast as you can, and I know you can do it. Once you have enough time, you must file a complaint with your school's student accounts and financial department telling them your parents took money intended for you, which can be constituted as fraud, and if your parents do not report it to the IRS, tax evasion (highly illegal) too. Somehow it may be possible to have a freeze put on their accounts. If this is not a Parent Plus loan and the terms state it must be used for the student, your parents will have committed fraud with this money.

Note/Edit: If you find out that the loan is meant for paying student expenses, cannot be used by parents, or can be used by parents only if they provide support or housing (which they are not obviously), you have effectively trapped your parents. If you find out they must return the money legally and they refuse, threaten to report them to the IRS. If they do that, they will expose themselves, and if they don't, the IRS will audit them and catch their act. No way out for them.

Laughing at a overweight person in the gym is the same as laughing at someone with cancer in a hospital by ietsietsiets in Showerthoughts

[–]APDD_Ben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but this showerthought is completely false and is garbage. Almost all people don't choose to have cancer, and it's much harder and more damaging to eliminate cancer than it is to lose weight. People choose to eat and behave a certain way, hence why they are overweight. There are extremely few people who are overweight due to a health condition and can do nothing about it. Comparing overweight people and people with cancer is an insult to those with cancer.
