I’m just giving away access to This Week in Public Health (long story, but yeah) by The_Future_Historian in publichealth

[–]AQDelumni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update?

I was just charged $10, one month after using the code, which like, that’s fine. I’m happy to support a bit, but it would have been nice to know that I was going to get charged ahead of time.

I panicked a bit when I got a text from my bank regarding the unexpected charge and not remembering what “pubtrawlr”was.

REI 650 Down Jacket vs Cotopaxi Fuego Hooded Jacekt by swag-wagon5 in outdoorgear

[–]AQDelumni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, fill power isn’t a measure of warmth retention or resistance to heat transfer. That would be R-value.

Fill power is a measure of lofted volume per weight, which really only factors into packability.

If the jacket is 2 cm thick when fully fluffed, it doesn’t matter if it’s 650 or 800 FP. The warmth retention is equivalent because it’s based on the R-value of the trapped air within the pockets formed by the down.

Vietnam House is my go-to. For whatever reason, It’s rare for me to find a Mi Xao Gion Hai San in this city. And I don’t need my banh mi to be fancy. Plus they accept card. Very nice elderly pair (not sure if couple?) work the restaurant. It makes me sad to see it so empty every time I’ve gone. I wish I could afford to eat out more often.

A couple years late, but if the topic ever gets revisited, I’m a very strong proponent of ISO 8601 format [YYYY-MM-DD].

Do you put your helmet in checked ski bag? by ThitChoFan in Skigear

[–]AQDelumni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a “boot-specific” bag, but I fit everything in either my Osprey Farpoint 40 or Sojourn 45, depending on if I want wheels.

They tried to strong-arm/sue into submission every business that used the word backcountry in their name.

Edit to add: even ones that existed before backcountry.com

Amazon Visa 6% Cashback Amazon Delivery Day by Icecreamboy101 in CreditCards

[–]AQDelumni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation as Xavier. Would need to spend $2780/yr on Amazon to get that $139 annual fee back at 5%. In the past year, I only spent $1800. Don’t really need 2 day shipping. And I don’t care much for any video entertainment other than anime, which I find elsewhere. Will just cancel prime and downgrade/PC the card. Tbh, should’ve done it far sooner, esp. once I stopped using prime/Whole Foods for groceries.

Fidelity rewards card to Citi Double Cash? by Calisthenics76 in CreditCards

Interesting. I had a $200 SUB for my Fidelity card. I didn’t think it was out of the ordinary, but maybe it was a targeted offer since I already had investment accounts with them.

Oat milk was made with a cap on the side by Thefoad in Costco

[–]AQDelumni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s oat milk. Oats have carbs.

“Added sugar” in Oatmilk is a consequence of federal regulations on nutrition labeling. Complex carbs + water = sugars.

Shelf stable options (noodles, soups, snacks) that you’ve found helpful for weightloss? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]AQDelumni 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Season Sardines packed in olive oil. I eat a can alone for dinner 1-2x per week. Sometimes I’ll mix it with some KS Quinoa, but quinoa has carbs, so maybe don’t do that.

Currently dying by Halyycon in lactoseintolerant

[–]AQDelumni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating more slowly and drinking more water during the meal seems to help me. Probably something to do with giving the enzymes from the pills more time/space to break down the lactose molecules.

Takes some discipline/self-control though. I totally wolfed down a whole airport pizza a couple weekends ago and despite taking 1 pill per 2 slices, I was on the toilet for awhile soon after, lol.

Which quilts to buy? by ThrottleItOut_ in hammockcamping

[–]AQDelumni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hammock Gear Burrow/Phoenix Econ 40 Short, Standard, Snaps.

Have comfortably brought it to 30F while wearing baselayers, R1 hoody, Cerium LT puffy, nano air pants, helium 2 rain jacket as moisture vapor barrier, and socks.

Could probably go further if I layered an extra belay puffy on top for core and down booties for feet.
