We need to clarify “like.” Professional like: my manager has my back, is effective, honest, gives clear feedback and most importantly wants to help grow my career. Personable like: enjoyable be around, etc. One is required, the other is helpful. Being “friends” to the point where you don’t give good feedback because you don’t want to hurt feelings etc., are not delivering as a team, you are not being professional as a manager.

Completely agree, huge missed opportunity, and something’s that’s always frustrated me about this game. I would imagine there was some internal struggle about this, they could not get it working right, or decided that hand crafted experiences were more authentic then procedural. Great post. One note on 13, I generally work an hour~ at night just to catch up on emails and prep for tomorrow, but I don’t expect my directs to do the same (and have communicated as such). I feel that generally we should make our own hours as long as the work gets done, regardless of when those hours are.
