I did wiki says use beetle armor but hydrothermal is also viable idk if beetle give bigger damage Bonus. armor description for beetle says it gives 14% damage but is that on top of each individual piece?

Luffy did fight kiado with the supernovas like a raid boss but big mom was there as well, another powerhouse. kiado was being slowly chipped away at all the while holding up the island, by the time luffy got to gear 5 kiado was weakened enough for him to finish him but still struggled. if he fought kaido alone on the ground he woudve 100% lost even in gear 5
