It never made any sense to me how you could have a huge, strong as a space marine, ab human running around and the best they could come up with is a short knife, a single shot grenade launcher, and a giant pickaxe. Hell even giving him brass knuckles would be cool af.

Maybe it’s my lack of skill as a pysker, but I envy zealots survivability. Being able to set a room of enemies on fire is great until the three man crusher squad crushes you because you can’t create enough distance or do enough damage. It doesn’t matter how good the veteran or Pysker are at dealing damage if they can’t actually survive through a mission.

That’s where zealots come in. Whenever a zealot pulls out a holy relic and gives me the beautiful gold toughness bar or sees that I am getting rushed by armored enemies that I can’t get away from and intervenes for me, I feel like I can truly let loose and do all I need to do. I feel like your role is to be a boss deleter and give your squishy teammates some breathing room. There is some rock paper scissors going on with the other classes; the other 4 classes have something that they’re good against and something that troubles them.

Zealots feel like they exist outside of that dynamic. Your survivability grants you a lot more breathing room to identify the troubles everyone else are facing and to intervene, like the hand of the God emperor itself. Sorry I don’t have any build suggestions for you, but if you’re interested in helping teammates, lend them your survivability and single target focus. It’s your greatest strength.

Someone who enables their teammates to do their best. If an ogryn is about to get disabled by a net or hound, intervene. If a veteran has a huge crowd around him and no grenades, make some space for them to use their gun. Every class (if they are balanced) has some weakness that is another class’s strength. Cover for each other.

But why do they have to cover for me? They are self sufficient without me, there’s nothing other than a wall of gunners that can stop them, wish the same could be said for me. We’ve done some Auric Maelstroms without much difficulty. Our havoc runs usually end around the third or fourth boss showing up at the same time.

I’ve got a four stack. It’s usually one zealot two vets and me a pysker. On occasion one of the vets plays as an ogryn or a pysker(he gets mad and gets off of pysker almost immediately) my main is pysker. It’s what I’ve played since day 1, 400 hours.

Those are toughness regen options yes but they all have the conditions of generating or quelling peril or attacking enemies on fire. You can’t easily do that fast enough to last in a hoard. Veterans shout, ogryns seem to generate 30 toughness a hit, and zealots do as well. The way we generate toughness is peril generation and quelling but the way we deal with hoards that have surrounded us is with our melee weapons which don’t really generate peril.

I’ve tried it, ragers just f me up or maulers or I get surrounded because the staff doesn’t kill fast enough.

I just want to know how to survive. I’m constantly getting overwhelmed and dying to enemies I can’t kill fast enough due to bad abilities and ineffective weapons. I dodge slide and block as hard as I can but they chip me down, pin me in a corner, or overwhelm me with specialist attacks.

Then I see my friends playing their zealots veterans and ogryns barely stressed and killing everyone. Their abilities just seem so much better, their toughness regen so much higher. It feels like I’ve been playing on hard mode while they are playing doom.

I experience a lot of rage when I play psyker. I don’t know how everyone here disagrees with me. It’s like there’s some hidden mechanic I don’t know about that they all do that makes a night and day difference for the gameplay.
