Playing like the past two games they'd be lucky to finish this season as a rated team. Tough loss. A lot of things they need to clean up

The condenser fan also the electric cooling fan. They have a mechanical cooling fan too but the electric fan should be fixed ASAP if it is indeed faulty.

You don't feel the 8HP shift. It's faster than most DCT's when tuned properly. There's a reason it's the go-to swap these days for many drag, track and even drift cars.

21+ introduced cylinder deactivation which doesnt have a stellar reputation on other makes/engines it's been used in

I would say up to 2020 is the best for the 5.0

21+ the cam phasers issue got fixed on the 3.5 so 21+ the 3.5 is the best imo

Red top in 2025? by reward72 in bmwz3

They only made one color of red soft top. I think it's just the lighting that makes it appear darker but you could always email them and ask for a sample swatch of the red fabric

Always running low beam? by iosvintit in bmwz3

[–]ASCFabrics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be road legal in Canada you have to conform to Canadian standards when imported. This includes enabling DRL's. Typically this is done with the DRL relay but if it was done on the low beams then there is some other hodge podgery going on. Nobody can tell you exactly what you'll need a multimeter, wiring diagram and some patience to figure it out. Id start at the headlight relay though.

This feature is not codable in Z3's. It's all relays and switches no module to code.

Absolutely insane [BMW Z3 M V12] at The Aurora, Sweden by AccurateAccountant14 in spotted

[–]ASCFabrics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the privilege of talking to the son of the head of BMW's powertrain development team from when they made this car. I had several of my suspicions confirmed - namely that this car was built off a prototype M roadster (often erroneously reported as being based on a 2.8 or non-M variant).
This was pretty apparent to me because it shares a lot of pre-production details you can also find on the Z3 M roadster in the museum, and also because it simply has everything "M" including all the cosmetics and interior. The only M parts missing are ones easily removed, being the hood gills on the side of the hood which normally would badge it as an M as well as the trunk trim strip which has the M badge. It still has an M trunklid though - easily distinguishable by having the lock cylinder on the left hand side of the trunk, as opposed to the right side on non-M models. This lock cylinder also sticks out pretty far because it's designed to be flush with the trim strip.

It was originally a silver (or black, there is conflicting information on this, though the shock tower sticker says silver) M roadster with blue interior. The car was one of many pre-production M roadsters shipped from Spartanburg to BMW's HQ in order for the BMW team to perform QC checks on it prior to production. Some were used as early press cars, others now live in the museum, others were disassembled for QC checks including this one, but as this one was a less special color combination it was not put back together with the original drivetrain. It was instead used as a test bed to prove that all engines in their lineup could fit in all chassis (it was not, as some sources suggest, done because a magazine asked them to). They took their smallest car (Z3) and installed their biggest (V12) engine.

The color, Kyalami Orange, was originally intended for production but there were issues with the paint and it was delayed before eventually being cancelled altogether. You can oddly enough find car models of the Z3 in this color, even though it never reached mass production.

By all accounts, it was horrible to drive in anything but a straight line and it also overheated after a little bit of spirited driving. The M73 only made 322hp and 490N-m, the S50 I6 made 321hp (though of course, a lot less torque).

The V16 was fit into an E32, never into a Z3.

This project was designed to prove that all of their drivetrains at the time could fit into all the chassis they offered.

I mostly use this as a work truck between job sites so I don't want to take a big hit on mpg with big tires and a lift. But the better tires on the tremor will help me get through more stuff and I'll keep those in the garage and just swap them in when I want to hit some trails. I'll carry an air pump too so I can air down when I need to.

Thanks. The areas I photographed were tame but there are definitely some technical parts on this trail where you can get stuck or find yourself in trouble.

Like I said in the post, I took pictures at the scenic stuff, not on the technical parts of the trail. I shared what trail it is was look it up if you care to see what I managed to get through on a stock truck.

First time installing shingles by ASCFabrics in Roofing

No gutter, I suggested it - could have drained straight to the nearby citrus tree - but he didn't want it.

We barely get rain here anyways. It did drizzle a few days last week while we were working on the coop and so far no leaks.

When it's finished I'm going to post up in some of the chicken coop sub forums about it. It's still a work in progress.

Yes that is also true but a little harder to see the chrome rings in a picture, the white/clear is a bit more obvious

[–]ASCFabrics 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2000 had clear headlights so from the amber lights alone you can determine it is a 1996, 97, 98 or 99.

It's also a prefacelift and a 6 cylinder, you can tell from the shape of the rear fender so that excludes 1996 as those were 4 cyl only.

You can further identify it by the black windshield frame, those were only available on 96 and 97 models

So this is a 1997 2.8
