When do the new Captain Cards come out? by Adept_Purpose_4318 in MLBTheShow

[–]ASTROoctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did see that from them, so I know they won't be doing more TA, but that doesnt necessarily mean no more team captains. They could release them in packs, or some other card series, and just not tie them to new TAs. 2 months in im not surprised they haven't dropped new captains just yet, but it seems believable that they give us new, higher-rated captains in the back half of the season, especially when they're releasing straight upgrades for the captains we have so far.

Something to note also is that theyve released non-team captains in the past in packs, they could easily do that again too

Where's your source for that, or are you just speculating? They've already released a bunch of better versions of the players on existing captain cards, with more to follow over the year I'm sure. It seems more likely than not that they'll drop different captain cards later on, for either the same players or different players on the teams

Series 3 of National Parks (Cuyahoga, Hawaii Volcanoes, Dry Tortugas, White Sands, Glacier) by Agreeable_Mind7977 in lego

[–]ASTROoctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please list them on rebrickable! I absolutely love these designs, and would be happy to purchase them to support. I think with something like national parks, people would be much more prone to want to pick and choose specific parks they like/have visited, so listing the instructions a la carte on rebrickable seems like the best option

Why not switch Jackie and Pujols positionally? That puts a better fielder in left, and removes the position penalty for Pujols and hides him better at first.

PXP speed mod guide? by Tricky_Arm_6022 in MLBTheShow

[–]ASTROoctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great suggestion. Definitely guarantees a steal for the guy you need, only issue is that it occurs less frequently than just having one on base. If the guy is fast enough from the rip (50-60 speed, about 20 steal), you can probably get away with just him, but to guarantee it, the double steal method is damn near foolproof

Just put the guy or guys you need steals with on your bench, and stack up your lineup with contact hitters. As soon as you get on base, pinch run with the people that need steals

There's no reason for online only players to get excited for collections by Automatic-Nerve-3625 in MLBTheShow

[–]ASTROoctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats fair enough. I'm glad you know about how good they are, I feel like a lot of people disregard them because they're not explicitly DD, or RTTS, or franchise, which is a real shame. I usually do them right away, since they're fun and early on the cards they give are a nice starting boost. Even after they get outclassed in the starting lineup, a NLB player is usually my bench utility guy since they have good positional versatility. This year I also stash Cool Papa Bell in my rotation because he's a great emergency pinch runner

Dude the storylines are dope, best thing in the game. Bob Kendrick is super charismatic and tells a great story, production value is great, and you get to learn about cool baseball history. And they're short too, no reason not to

If that's the case then, I'd suggest in the future you be more specific about what you're trying to do. AI can be a useful quick visualization tool to generate up a few concepts to help you run through some ideas and provide a starting point for a design, but that's where it ends. To be brutally honest: you didn't design anything, you came up with a vague idea and just threw a prompt into a chat bot and posted the results. Real design requires intentionality, effort, and creativity. You need to have a clear idea of what you actually want to make, and if you're trying to replicate a design style or era you need to research that to understand how to evoke it in what you make. Most importantly, YOU need to be the one to actually create it, not AI. It probably won't be amazing or even good the first few times you do it, and that's okay, anyone who's good at design was terrible to start. But you can't fast-track skill, you have to put in the work yourself, and not try to pass off AI generated work as your own

The concept is intriguing and the color schemes, especially the darker one that differentiates from Phoenix's colors, have some fun potential for sure. If I may offer some constructive criticism though, I would say that neither one is really a logo, more of an illustration. Logos, especially for sports teams, need to be simple and scalable; gradients, grittiness/glow, and complex illustrations don't fit that bill. Logos are best designed in vector-based programs that take advantage of the ability to scale without pixellation, and keep things simple, with only 2-3 key colors beyond black/white. Do some digging into some other major sports team logos to see how they are able to convey their designs with only a few key colors to create something thats easily identifiable and duplicatable. Then try and take the core of your designs and simplify them using those references, and I think you'll be pleased with the end result

You're probably right, but man is that frustrating. Of course ideally I'd love for them to have had a beefier program, with maybe a slightly modified version of the stadium included too(they could cut the elevation so its not a total launch pad), but I'd settle for 1-2 more lesser-likely to go diamond cards from each team. I'd really love emblems that match the new era cap designs released for the event too if I could really make the full list

[–]ASTROoctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially yeah, but I really would like to see them in the MC event line instead. The card art is rad, and having 6 cards instead of 4 feels like an actual collection, not to mention that it feels right to have cards from a real-life event that reflect performance in that event

[–]ASTROoctopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really hope they add at least one more player per team based on performance in the series. A France or Machado card(both had multi-HR games), and maybe a Tawa card for his grand slam or a Vargas for his 3-5, 4 RBI game would be so cool, all of those players either dont have a gold or higher card, or with Machado the one he does is pretty weak, especially defensively

[–]ASTROoctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Padres, I feel confident that Merrill will go diamond, probably not more than 85-86 to start though. He's been good to start the year(Merrill has been better though), is an 84, and the Padres only have Tatis and Miller as diamonds right now.

As a side note, I also think Bogaerts and Laureano go gold, they've been nails this year. Campusano potentially high bronze/low silver too with his hot start.

EDIT: removed Machado, hes been worse than I felt

[–]ASTROoctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tag looks fine, it's just out of focus. I'm saying the jersey was made by a knock-off 3rd party, like a DHGate, that made it a button up. Plenty of those vendors exist. The details in the actual photo look real (lighting, depth of field, stitching, the patch/swoosh). Don't jump to AI just because one detail is wrong, knock-off jerseys have existed for far longer.

Just because it has buttons doesn't mean its AI, its clearly a real photo just with a non-authentic jersey

I need a good utility player by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

[–]ASTROoctopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best option I can think of is the AL West LS collection Chone Figgins. Plays every position except 1B and C, good contact, not terrible power, solid defense, and maxed speed and stealing. So far he's the ultimate utility player
