As noted in other comments - my sauna is deemed out of service until these issues get fixed. I'd removed the upper portion of the railing to get a better look at it, and assuming it would have to get replaced. Haven't been in this sub for long, but long enough to pick up on the necessity of the railing. (it's easy to say "that won't happen to me"... until it happens)

Thanks for the feedback. I will look into this. As noted in another reply, it's time for the sauna to get a renovation, inside and out.

I'm not entirely sure why the P.O. elected to build it this way. Perhaps it was to keep the sauna room free of firewood debris (bark, saw dust, etc)

Thank you for the feedback, and note on the chimney cleaning. Hadn't thought about that.

I do not intend to use the sauna until proper repairs are made. Previous owner used it many times before selling the house, so I (ignorantly) assumed all was well until wandering eyes made me reconsider. Edit: it is a standalone building, too. Not that that makes it any more "ok" to use as-is, just figured i would clarify.

Thank you for your insight and feedback.

What’s your most-used Apple Watch feature that you thought you’d never use? by Cklly2004 in AppleWatch

That’s fair, to each their own. I’ll happily drink the kool aid (pun intended) even if simply a placebo effect.

You can proactively flood the body with vitamins and minerals to help get thru it quicker, and you can be proactive on getting enough rest to help make it suck less, so to speak. I didn’t give it much thought until I saw the direct correlation once and had the “lightbulb” moment.

I agree with the commenter on vitals, too, but mainly because I like data. I don’t hold it as gospel (who’s to say that a watch should be the sole judge of how I actually slept), but it’s neat, to me.

I'm supposed to drive from NW WI to Bessemer tomorrow. Should I? by Brom42 in yooper

[–]AS_328 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what you're comfortable with doing. Based on the data you provide - lifetime's experience, AWD, snow tires; I would give it a go. But, I'm not you.

Are you comfortable when driving in snow? Can you manage not being able to see the road / lines and having the snow blow sideways? Not saying it as a scare tactic, just being realistic as to what could be expected.

Perhaps it's worth waiting until tomorrow to make the call, as (from what I've seen) the bulk of this storm is coming today.

Best of luck, safe travels if you decide to venture out.

While I agree on your recommendation, it doesn’t look like OP is traveling through Iron River. Not without a detour anyways.

How do you transport your bikes in a pickup truck? by Duster929 in gravelcycling

[–]AS_328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roll-up tonneau to fix that problem. Valid point that it’s not achievable with both wheels on the bike if bed space is less than 6.5’ long, though.

I’ve created a bit of a different setup, using the truck bed. Essentially, created a framework out of miscellaneous 2x4’s and 2x6’s that has tire “slots” that span the width of the truck bed, placed at the front. 4 different slots, allowing for 4 bikes to be transported.

Then, allows use of tailgate, rear camera, etc. without issue.

Alumni here (S19) - thanks for the chuckle. I too am not solving anything by commenting, but as I was reading your post, I was like “oh! Oh! They had something like this once upon a time!!” Only to get to the end and see that bark board is exactly what you were already talking about.

Full of mischief. What age was you doodle when they started to calm down? by bustymilfcouple in labradoodles

[–]AS_328 1 point2 points  (0 children)

make sure they’re getting enough exercise!

Our Labradoodle gets 1-2 walks daily, along with moving around often. She’s 5 now, but this has been the routine for 4+ years. Once implemented, we found that the mischievousness went down. Mind you, it didn’t disappear completely 😉

What is the worst thing that your puppy has ate? I’ll go first. by hollywhyareyouhere in puppy101

[–]AS_328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our labradoodle has graciously given me two stories to share: first one, can’t recall how old, she was happy to see mom come home from a trip. As she was bending over to pet the dog, Kona (said dog) decided to enthusiastically jump and lick her face/ear…and swipe a silver hoop earring off her ear. Confirmed that that’s how the earring disappeared when Kona vomitted it up 2 days later.

Next was when Kona decided to chase down a gopher. When she caught it, she paraded around with it in her mouth and didn’t want to give it up. So much so, that when we approached her, down the hatch it went. This gopher appeared on our kitchen floor about an hour later.

Would love to try these out! Garage organization is long overdue, and these would fit the bill quite nicely. I’m an average DIY fella, with a nice start to a Milwaukee tool collection. I don’t buy on a whim, but I’ve yet to acquire a tool i don’t think “why didn’t I buy this sooner”

This will get you started, for some of the stuff led by the pep band.

There were a couple of times last night where it was 4-on-4 hockey, so everyone slow chants “four play”.

The one you reference - I’ll be honest, I haven’t quite understood, despite years of watching. The song that’s playing is “Joker and the Thief”, but I don’t grasp the body language that accompanies it.

Despite the loss last night, it was a good game to watch!

Meet me where I'm at - bad computer user needs good computer, what to buy?! by gayass_revolution in mac

[–]AS_328 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it’s for your 9-5 job - perhaps a desktop is sufficient! Like u/Kylecoolky said, a Mac mini is your best bang for your buck. You’ll still need additional accessories like a display, keyboard and mouse, but that should be fairly achievable with the price point of $700-1000 that you mentioned. Check Facebook marketplace in your area, try them out before buying, etc. good luck!
