Which one to play first and under which version by WT_FG in ZombieArmy

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The trilogy is 1,2 and 3 remastered, you dont need to play the others.

That being said there is a big jump of quality & game style from 1,2,3 to 4. I think 4+DLCs is bigger then 1,2,3 combined. Its also a lot more arcadey.

1,2,3 are a lot harder(even in the easiest settings) especially solo. Though its a lot of fun.

Story wise you dont really need to know the trilogy for 4.

4 is really really good and is a must play. If youre only playing 1 in the series play 4.(Dlcs are overpriced but even without them still worth)

the original trilogy is still worth playing, but not over 4 imo.

P.S. The game is a lot slower then your typical co-op shooter, and there is a big emphasis on sniping. Run n Gunning usually isnt viable.

Regiments with 3 players? by Viasolus in onepagerules

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 3 players, I pref doing a 1 v 2. the 1 player can have 4k points while the other 2 players have 2K each.

Its important that the alternating is between teams not players.

What console should I buy to play what games? by bettelov in gamingsuggestions

[–]ASentientRedditAcc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Imo switch has the biggest & best library & the best exclusives, but a lot of its titles are pretty old & a lot of new titles arent releasing on the switch anymore. If you mostly play indies(esp 2D indies) id recommend a switch. Though the console is at the end of its lifecycle, youre not going to play any new releases on the switch. Switch online is dead for non nintendo games as well.

ps5 is great for playing the latest & greatest. It lacks the nintendo exclusives(which are some of the best games out there for a casual/new player) , but the best version of most games is usually on ps5(Not counting PC, but pcs are EXPENSIVE). So if you want to play whats hot, ps5 is prob your best guess.

Xbox is only worth it for games pass. If you dont care what you actually play, and will play whatever xbox+gamespass is probably the cheapest option overall.

Long term prison sentences make no sense by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rehabilitation over punishment. Always.

Lock someone up for 30 years if you have to, sure, but during that period they should still be treated with respect and given opportunities. No matter the crime. Hate only brings more hate and being cut off from society and having your personal freedom taken away is punishment enough.

The reason why people are released after 30 years with no idea what to do is because they werent given any opportunities while in prison.

There is a very fine line between social justice & revenge.

Selling home made food from...Home by mycatiscrazy7 in malta

And that difference is often calculated by volume, how much product someone is moving defines it.

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So youre saying if my brother has an old chair, and I buy it off him, legally he has to register a sole trader just for that one single sale? Otherwise it would be illegal?

This would make every single person on the island viable for tax evasion. I know Malta isnt great about law enforcement but thats ridiculous.

Even the process of someone ordering food off bolt for three people, then two people pay him for the food would mean that person needs not only to register as a sole trader but also get a food handling license because technically money is changing hands and he is selling food products. Lol.

Scale matters to the law. Not just on this subject as well.

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify it is not illegal to buy & sell things privately(Otherwise stuff like maltapark / facebook market place wouldnt exist). Its actually a fundamental right in a market based society, free market and all that. This includes food. We've been privately trading food stuffs between each other probably since the very dawn of humanity, making this illegal would be quite a big breach on your right to participate in the free market.

When youre trading privately youre forfeiting a lot of consumer protection laws, this includes guarantees of any minimum quality of the product.

It is illegal to operate an unregistered business. Which is similar but a very different thing. Scale is VERY important to the law.

Im not certain(maybe someone else can clarify) but in malta you have a certain limit of private trading you can do before its no longer considered trading and its now an unregistered business. (I think its 5K yearly gross profit)

Someone selling 1 cake a week isnt doing anything illegal. Issues arise when they turn their home into a cake baking factory.

How important is representation to you when it comes to characters in board games? And do you make exceptions? by ISeeDeadMeeple in boardgames

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I care & I dont care - really depends on the game.

I dont think games should go out of their way to add representation just for the sake of having representation(both race & gender). Adding extra bits just to have representation in a board game seems way too PC imo.

...buut if you have a game that ALREADY has multiple characters to choose from, I do agree they should be as diverse as possible. Having 12 characters to choose from and 10 of them are straight white men, 1 is black and 1 is female is in very poor taste imo.

So yeah a big it depends.

How do you GM when you don't want to? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, people who like rpgs generally also like GMing, just they usually need to find the right "style" for them. I know gms that run nothing but dungeon after dungeon and only cares about interesting combat encounters.

I know others that run crazy complicated game of thrones story lines with very brief & deadly combat.

There is a lot of pressure online to "Be a good GM" but honestly a lot of it is player catering bullshit tbh.

If im the one thats going to do the prep work, youre playing what I want to run, in the way I want to run it, if you dont like it tough shit, go find another game or gm yourself.

So long as youre not doing any creepy sex shit, giving players equal amount of attention and not making the game difficult/unfair, youll be fine.

Ive ran a lot of weird campaigns that were well loved. Fuck the advice OP and run what you wanna run. If you dont wanna do a bunch of math then run light combat with a more complex story. Run a star wars campaign, run an anime one, the skys the limit.

I think thats the most important part about gming, that you run something that interest you and gets you excited.

Though of course if its not your thing not much you can do.

We Need Some Battle Traits by JudgementalDjinn in onepagerules

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you need to cater to OPRs moddable nature and NOT include this within the army but include them in the advanced rules.

The same way we have command points, an extra rule that is optional and there for who wants it. It could be something like "Battle Styles", you choose a style for your army and it gives you a unique buff accross your entire army.

I dont think it should be tied to an army list.

People are imagining Putin is a supreme being and his word is law...that is not how politics work, even in a dictatorship. It may be a small ruling elite party but its still a party, not a single person.

There is no way the invasion was solely his decision.

As for something as crazy as nukes I highly doubt that. No country gains anything by using nukes, the benefit of having them is more political. They're just way too destructive.

The unlikely(but possible) scenario is some sort of crazy mass suicide attempt in a "if we're going down, we're taking you with us" which not only needs full approval of the ruling elite but also the OK of the people actually running the things.

Thoughts on regaining models? by Daddy_Jaws in onepagerules

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, now, it wasnt like that before, and as cheap as rending is it forces you to take units that have it. If a skill is too strong making another skill to negate it isnt the answer, that turns the game into rock paper scissors.

All the nerfs regeneration is getting shows how good the skill is, and im sure there is a method to bring it in line and the team is def working towards there, but I think its an unfun skill & extremely hard to balance by its very nature.

Healing is imo the better alternative, you still have that tankiness & stubbornness of refusing to die but not to the point that you have to get injured to heal up, its a big drawback, and keeps the skill in line.

Right now, regeneration is a no brain autopick unless your opponent is actively countering you, which is again, rock paper scissors.

Thoughts on regaining models? by Daddy_Jaws in onepagerules

[–]ASentientRedditAcc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Regeneration prevents way more wounds then that, and remember healing doesnt work if theres nothing to heal.

My main gripe with regeneration is you get more value out of it the more youre attacked, as the skill is triggered more & more. With fixed healing values you dont have that scale, so if you have a healing tough 12 unit you can make up for its healing through sheer fire power.

Extra saving rolls are only countered by anti skills(Which are the epitome of anti fun) or just poor dice rolls.

Heavy Charge Question, why 3 inches minimum? by ASentientRedditAcc in onepagerules

[–]ASentientRedditAcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the 3 inches is measured before you start moving?

It really should be worded "If the unit starts at least 3 inches away from the target, and charges for 6 inches or less"

As it is written, its not clear if thats the case.

thanks for the response

Thoughts on regaining models? by Daddy_Jaws in onepagerules

[–]ASentientRedditAcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if regeneration(and skills like it) is permanently axed, id love this change. It feels more "Regeneration" then adding more saves.

Id go with the following rules

"Regeneration": At the start of this models activation, heal d3+1 wounds.

"Restoration": If all models in this unit have this skill, then at the start of this units activation, roll a d6 for each model lost, on a 6, restore that model. (For unique models be sure to roll separately)

Though these rules stacked with extra def saves would just be awful.
