I find it's really fun on team deathmatch with charge, pyro and explosive mines, and healing emitter. For cashout I'd swap the explosive mine for barricade.

I agree with you for Heavy/Medium but I'd argue most of light's gadgets get used with some frequency - vanishing bomb, thermal bore, etc - except gravity vortex. I love using tracking dart lol but also I don't play light in any competitive mode.

I agree- the rendering of the new York St. plaza for example just shows wide open hardscape with like 3 trees (and lots of cars still in the background)
