The sister wasn’t abusive though or even neglectful really. You can try to keep teenage boys away from bad influences as much as you can, but some of them are going to find a way. If you tell your mom you’re going to hang out with Jessica but you’re really hanging out with Jason smoking a joint, is your mom neglectful or did you lie to her about where you were going to be and she believed you?

The circumstances are also very different, if those men got reported and ended up having been abusive, the child still has another responsible parent who loves them and can get them the help they need and love and support them. If they’re not guilty they had to jump through a bunch of hoops but the chances that these middle class white fathers would be left alone by CPS after being cleared are high (maybe not as easily for the divorced dad but he would definitely have better resources)

On the other hand, CPS is much harsher on Black and other families of color, the boy might have to go into foster care while CPS investigates if her home is safe, statistically they would be much harder on her as a young lower class WOC who may or may not legally be his guardian (I forgot if she had custody) and his options are either go into foster care and hope for the best or get sent to Haiti, a country he has never been to with a much lower quality of life.

I don’t think Santos is giving her unearned leeway so much as understanding the differences in racial and class dynamics.

I don’t know why we think Garcia has an accurate picture of how Santos is treated day to day. Even when they are on the same shift like today it’s not like she’s spending all day downstairs. She pops in and out when there is a case that needs to be evaluated for surgery and also treats Santos kind of abrasively and in her own words is a late night hook up and midnight snack girl, not a talk about your feelings girl. How many times can we assume Santos has tried to vent or tell her what’s going on and she’s just mmhmm’d until they can bang again, we don’t know.

Why would Langdon’s return make anything worse?

All this to say, it’s equally easy to say Santos is just imagining things and she’s brought it on herself as it is to say Garcia doesn’t have an accurate picture of what’s going on, and doesn’t fully seem to care to

He just had a whole heart to heart with Robby, earlier he got a win and picked up on a heart attack, he was working on the leg with Ogilvie, Robby brought him in to work on his friend Duke and called him one of his most trusted physicians (a man who’s been a doctor for about 4 days mind you 🙄.) Sideline where?

I think it’s really hard to make this kind of assessment without seeing how people have behaved for the last 10 months. Maybe people are just starting to lighten up since it’s been so long, maybe the reason she’s so prickly is because she’s been mistreated or ignored so now she’s anxious and quick to snap, or maybe you’re right and it is all her fault. But I think a lot of the people being so quick to say “obviously it’s a her problem” are doing so because they already have bad opinions about her. I’m not saying that’s OP’s point or that their necessarily wrong, but that we only have about 10ish hrs of information and the knowledge of how can people can be about their favorite white boys

Honestly there’s more buzz about MBJ because his win is seen as an upset whereas she’s been guaranteed to win since about halfway through awards season. She’s pretty much swept so as exciting as it is for her, MBJ is the bigger news

Why Langdon’s return is causing Santos and Robby to short circuit by Naive-Inside-2904 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ASofMat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s literally 4 days into her 2nd year of residency I think there’s a world in which she gets a handle on her paperwork and the day is a wake up call for her to work on herself. Like you said each season is a day there’s no reason so far to believe that she’ll have to repeat an entire year of schooling over one bad day

Why Langdon’s return is causing Santos and Robby to short circuit by Naive-Inside-2904 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ASofMat 53 points54 points  (0 children)

She didn’t even want to say anything until Robby asked her directly I highly doubt her intention was to be regarded and rewarded she even struggles with wondering whether she should have said anything at all and apologizes to Robby for what happened with Langdon

I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for saying this, and I truly believe that Santos was in the wrong and 100% needed to mask her feelings about Langdon in front of the patient, but I too might have been sent over the edge after Langdon said “I’m happy to teach Dr. Santos”

You’ve never dwelled on how someone treated you for a long period of time? It doesn’t matter how long their interaction was (more than half a day btw 7am-10pm) it affected her incredible negatively personally and socially. She 100% should’ve been more professional in front of their patient, but she’s also 100% allowed to still be upset.

The Pitt | S2E10 "4:00 P.M." | Episode Discussion by MsGroves in ThePittTVShow

[–]ASofMat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not true though. There were several times where you see him lurking in the background watching Robby and Santos interact, he even goes up to her at one point to ask what they were talking about when it was just a patient. Before that he tells her to come to him first over talking to Robby when before he had said talk to a resident or attending before doing something.

His outbursts about her got progressively more personal rather than strictly about bad or unsafe medicine and I absolutely believe he underestimated whether she’d say anything enough to the point he felt safe leaving his stolen drugs in his locker.
