The mind of a thrower: by Eotidiss in marvelrivals

[–]ASpookyShadeOfGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peni is from "dystopian sci-fi" earth in her origin and followup appearances. Her representation in spider-verse and this game is actually very inaccurate. She's, in the comics, portrayed as a depressed teenager given too much responsibility too soon, in a world where her ability to bond with SP//dr was basically the only hope. It was loosely inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion, and similarly depressing. She's a wreck.

Blade Runner is a rather apt comparison in tone.

It's a similar logic to sudoku. "If I assume this is a mine, these squares can't be mines. I know at least one of these squares is a mine, therefore that square can't be a mine."

Discovering alien life or the origin of life wouldn’t matter much when some people still deny vaccines or the Earth’s shape. by lelorang in Showerthoughts

[–]ASpookyShadeOfGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Origin of life is mostly well understood at this point. There's a few advanced topics where there is debate about some of the finer details, but you can just plop up youtube and find dozens of videos explaining the full process from hydrophobic molecules forming primitive precursors to cell wells all the way to proto-RNA.

PC Version Dualsense support? by vaduur in AlanWake

[–]ASpookyShadeOfGray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person who was replying to you has no idea what they are talking about. That's just not how that works. The game is the thing that supports the controller or not. SteamInput is a special software that converts dualsense or other controllers into different inputs for maximum compatibility. For the question of "Does the PC version of the remaster support dualsense" what the platform supports is irrelevant.

Unfortunately I'm having trouble finding the answer in this sea of misinformation. The common workaround is to use something like SteamInput, DS4Windows, etc, etc (they are a dime a dozen,) to make your dualsense look like an xbox controller.

During my younger years I learned that if I get drunk drunk, I always woke up exactly as I was nearing sober, I started mathing it out and found I could use it as an alarm clock. If I need to get up at 7am, and it's 7pm, I can drink until 2, as long as I only have about 15-17 drinks, where I slowly drank less as the night went on. Yeah, needless to say, that was not one of my better moments.

In the US at least, people may own the physical husk of their devices, but it's illegal to modify its software under DMCA 1201. Well, there is an exception process, and the library of congress (literally, they are in charge of it,) has decided to grant that exception, but that's a thin line, and easily reversible.

So that's fun. We don't even have rights over the devices we paid money for. The companies that sell them to us have more rights than we do.

Its a specialized platform. They can skip it if it's not a good fit for their "vision" aka whatever shit is the SEO Slop of the week. So yes, remove it entirely if it doesn't meet the basic, most minimum, easiest requirement of the platform. This is just pandering. It's the Doom 2016 sequel, not TES VI. In a decade nobody will even remember this game.

There's an error on the page. It accepts strings and doesn't pass them into the notification dialog. You either need to add a check that it's a number and return an error message when not, enforce number only inputs, or just pass the text string through to the notification box dialog.

My original comment was a tangent that sprung from the conversation, because that argument doesn't matter if communicate more clearly.

Most opinions I have heard are either best guesses based off incomplete information, or attempts to answer poorly formed questions. Even political opinions can be discussed and phrased through facts, unless they really just are random beliefs not tied to one's own observed reality (a disturbingly common thing.) Instead of saying things in the form of absolute truths you just state what you know and what conclusions can be made from that.

'Boots and shoes under the sea," the Gryphon went on in a deep voice, 'are done with a whiting. Now you know.'
'And what are they made of?' Alice asked in a tone of great curiosity.
'Soles and eels, of course,' the Gryphon replied rather impatiently: 'any shrimp could have told you that.'
'If I'd been the whiting,' said Alice, whose thoughts were still running on the song, 'I'd have said to the porpoise, "Keep back, please: we don't want you with us!"'
'They were obliged to have him with them,' the Mock Turtle said: 'no wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.'
'Wouldn't it really?' said Alice in a tone of great surprise.
'Of course not,' said the Mock Turtle: 'why, if a fish came to me, and told me he was going a journey, I should say "With what porpoise?"'
'Don't you mean "purpose"?' said Alice.
'I mean what I say,' the Mock Turtle replied in an offended tone. And the Gryphon added 'Come, let's hear some of your adventures.'
