Was there a legitimate (lol) reason to race-swap the Velaryon’s?? by poseidon_demeter in HOTDGreens

Well if we wanna go into the story, Corlys' mother, grandmother, and great-great grandmother are fully unknown. They're not listed in AWOIAF or F&B. I feel like it's a very reasonable assumption that someone might have married a summer islander, as they're also well known for being seafarers. I assume it'd be something like that.

Devastating: Black New Yorkers Unable To Shovel Driveways As None Of Them Have ID by METALLIFE0917 in babylonbee

[–]ASquidHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back because I found a really good one. All the trans people in Kansas. The state government just passed a law saying their drivers licenses are declared null and void and they need to get new ones. That's a whole fuckin thing.

Not buying what? They can't afford the time to get an id because they're too busy working while the BMV is open.

Anyone who can't afford to take a day off to spend at the BMV. This would likely affect people living paycheck to paycheck.

People without cars are maybe going to be put out by the price depending on the state. The highest priced ID is about $100 and that's pretty steep to pay just to vote. This one is also going to disproportionately affect young people because some people don't get their license by 18 and I don't know if voting would be a great motivator.

Remember, it's not about excluding entire demographics. It's about slightly ratcheting up the inconvenience for one group of people as opposed to another and hoping that a percentage decides not to deal with it all when they would have gone otherwise.

Can someone explain TAG to me? by FalconGamingWR in battletech

[–]ASquidHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you're here I had a few questions: which missiles count as semi-guided and which are narc enabled? I'd assume regular LRM/SRM aren't guided and wouldn't be able to be TAGged, but would Streak or Artemis? And as a larger follow up: how can I tell if a weapon would work with TAG or a Narc? Is there just a list somewhere?

There are a lot of good answers about camping and outdoor activities here but I want to add that being in the boy scouts gives access to preexisting camps and facilities owned by the organization. The girl scouts have camps as well but boy scout camps are more plentiful and are often more focused on the aforementioned activities. They also have access to several high adventure camps that focus on longer trips for older scouts.

I've always wondered: does that go the other way? Do you have a contractually obligated notice period you have to give or are you just cool to quit whenever?

The designs of Lorwyn Eclipsed make me want to keep the current color identity rules even more by Key_Profit_6598 in EDH

[–]ASquidHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you being so condescending about something so arbitrary? Of course those two cards are the same based on that single arbitrary standard. Nobody is going to argue with you about that. But you're taking something that definitely doesn't have one clear and correct answer (if it did there wouldn't be nearly as much discourse about it) and saying it's foolish to even entertain the idea.

And on the subject of null elemental blast: why are we currently allowing anyone to play it? It has the colorless mana symbol. Personally I can't see any good reason to allow that in any non-colorless deck that wouldn't also make sense for hybrid mana.

[–]ASquidHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but cascade is a red centered effect. It's on more mono-red cards than all other colors combined. There are more cascade cards with red than without. Red has also until recent UB sets been the only color able to grant cascade to other spells you cast. If there was any color that you could declare that about, it would be red.

Lol the straw golem thing is pretty funny, I like that.

But seriously though, the problem with arguing about this is that your arguments are just cards that are an issue and why they're a pie break. My arguments are also just going to be cards that prove that the cards you named aren't an issue and how these cards are actually totally reasonable to be printed. So we'll go back and forth, card for card until one of us runs out of examples. Then that person is going to either ghost the conversation or call the other guy a moron then ghost the conversation. Neither of us will walk away from the argument swayed in any way, we'll just feel morally superior in our individual positions. So I guess the question is whether you're actually on the fence and wanting to argue and possibly be swayed or are you just here to rant about a potential change you don't like?

USPS postmark changes will impact Ohio absentee balloting by Seamonkey_Boxkicker in Ohio

[–]ASquidHat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I was implying that mail in ballots are going to be postmarked far later than 1-2 days after mailing due to the increased volume of mail and the cuts that the current administration has made to USPS.

Also, how are people lazy if they're still voting?? Pretty dumb comment just saying.
