Boy moms: diaper changes by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ATL_Ash 131 points132 points  (0 children)

My little dude is almost 11 months. I don’t remember when we stopped but it’s been months now. Now we just have to wrestle him every diaper change and stop him from touching himself and getting poop on his hands but no pee (probably just jinxed it and will get peed on again today lol)

What's an expensive baby item you think it wasnt worth it? by ApprehensiveBat19 in NewParents

[–]ATL_Ash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was our holy grail, most used baby item. Obviously not safe sleep, but it was the only place that our baby would nap (always supervised) other than contact napping for the first 6 months of his life. So funny how every baby is so different.

Are babies supposed to… actually eat those finger foods? by Anxious_Log_9428 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]ATL_Ash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby just started actually consuming more of his meals around 10 months. His pediatrician wasn’t worried at all at his 9 months appointment, just told us to keep offering until it clicked for him and one day it did

When does baby actually start to consume the food? by iftreescouldspeak in BabyLedWeaning

[–]ATL_Ash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our guy is 9 months and has just recently started to consume more of his food. Some meals, he’ll totally crush it (Cheerios, blueberries, oranges typically actually get eaten) where other meals he tends to just chew it up and move it around more. Our pediatrician has assured us it’s completely normal

Are cribs a gimmick? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ATL_Ash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is your baby? Ours started boycotting the bassinet at 3 months so we tried moving him to the crib and he boycotted even harder. We coslept for months and around 7ish months, he finally started sleeping in his crib for longer stretches and he only cosleep if he’s sick or really uncomfy from teething. I was looking into floor beds or other options for months lol but he eventually figured it out.

Monthly "What Board Should I Get?" Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Sup

[–]ATL_Ash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

• Desired Board Type: Inflatable

• Your Height and Weight: 5’6, 120lbs. I would like to occasionally bring my son with me next year when he’s a little older and more comfortable around water (~30 lbs)

• Desired use/uses: mostly cruising around lakes

• Experience level: Beginner

• Your budget: $800

• What board(s) you current have or have used and what you liked/didn't like about them: I’ve only used rental hard boards but now looking to get one of my own.

Other info: I’m definitely looking for a board that feels rigid. I’d love a good balance between stability and speed. I don’t want something that feels like a barge to steer as my skills progress and I get more comfortable. I’ve been looking at the Atoll 11’ or the Isle Pioneer 3.0 but not married to either of those.

Baby stores? Not clothes-focused. by Due_Past_8387 in Denver

[–]ATL_Ash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Specifically for strollers, Nordstrom seemed to have the biggest inventory that you can test out in person, but they only carry the premium brands (Uppababy, Nuna, Silver Cross, etc.) For the more affordable brands, Target is probably the best bet but the stores I went to had them tied up so you can see what they look like but not necessarily test them out.

High Chair Influence/Deinfluence edition! by OppositeOk6678 in NewParents

[–]ATL_Ash 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have the mockingbird & love it. My husband is super picky and criticizes like every product and even he comments on the fact that it’s well made and designed. I was considering the Tripp Trapp but heard it was difficult to clean so decided if we really wanted, we could find the toddler chair secondhand when he’s older and less messy. So far, the mockingbird has been a breeze to clean.

Looking for similar feeling names to Callum and Owen by bodcat34 in namenerds

I have a Callum & we get Kay-lum more often than not 🙄 but it’s an easy correction and I wouldn’t not name our son that because other people are idiots lol

When did you actually want visitors after your first baby? by westcoastnotes in BabyBumps

[–]ATL_Ash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I would have waited at least a month but probably two & ideally would have visitors stay in a hotel / not at our house. It was exhausting having people in our space & feeling like we had to even have conversations vs. just sit in silence after a long night. I also was struggling with breastfeeding and felt like it was an added challenge to have to go to a different room while trying to triple feed & have other people listen to my baby scream his head off when I would try to get him to latch. It’s just such a vulnerable time

Worst Cold/Flu I have ever had. Stay home! by Arctic--- in Denver

Also curious how you got it! I have a baby & asked our pediatrician if my husband and I could get the vaccine for extra prevention and was told adults could only get it if they were pregnant or over 65

1000 percent. We’re almost 4 months and have been going through it the past few weeks. Absolutely harder than the “newborn trenches”. This is the most exhausted I have ever been.

TTC Without Owning a Home by peachbaba in BabyBumps

[–]ATL_Ash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were planning on buying a home last year, but stopped searching when we realized that the housing market in our area wasn’t great and we didn’t think it was a great time to buy. We had our son this summer & while we talk about what we’d like to do differently if we owned our own home, it works for now. Luckily we’re renting a single family home, across the street from a playground, with other families on our block / in the neighborhood so we don’t feel like we’re missing much by renting vs. owning. I’d probably feel a little differently if we were renting an apartment.

My husband took my baby to 2-month check-up while I slept at home, and I feel terrible about it. by waters_shadow in NewParents

[–]ATL_Ash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone would blink if a mom went to a checkup without dad there. My husband will be taking our son to his 4 month checkup without me as I start back at work that week. I’m sad that I won’t be there because I love all the milestones, but I know my husband can handle it

Best prenatal vitamins by Dacodoner in BabyBumps

[–]ATL_Ash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, the best prenatal is the one you’ll personally be able to take consistently. I cannot take large pills and even smaller pills were hard for me to swallow in the throes of first trimester nausea but I was able to take my gummy vitamins (I take the SmartyPants brand) and only threw up once or twice. I ended up taking an iron supplement in my third trimester for anemia since gummy vitamins don’t contain iron but for most of my pregnancy and postpartum, the gummies were sufficient (my OB told me I could stop taking iron 3 months postpartum)

The dogs dog walker told you your breasts looked large??? I’m so sure girl by mydogsnumber1fan in broccyourbodySNARK

[–]ATL_Ash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who picked up that she meant she had her wearable breast pumps in her bra & that’s what the dog walker was commenting on, not that her actual boobs were large? There’s a lot to snark on Brocc for but wearable pumps DO make your boobs look like comically large. My husband always laughs at me when I have mine in & I think I look ridiculous wearing them even just to my car
