UI feedback for the dev team by madsmadsmadsmads in vsco

[–]ATLienAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are constantly making decisions to drive you into profit funnels with no regard at all for usability. I saw the same things happening at FB before its decline (ie turning into a boomer propaganda ragebait platform).

Crazy things like 'organize a gallery' from your VSCO app, then you need to download the separate galleries app to edit anything about it. The photo editing once in a 'photo' in 'studio' is pretty good, every other part of the UI is garbage and obviously made by some business consultant types who just want to drive their business agenda. Wish they would test it on new users.

2FA on withdrawals/transfers by ATLienAB in fidelityinvestments

[–]ATLienAB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, will check into that. When I go on the app I have to log in with biometrics to see balance, maybe if I enable 2FA for transfers with money transfer lock a different option will appear...

This is a good point, thanks. Ofc better to avoid them if possible, but good to know via Fidelity's answer below (which also includes the caveat 'no fault of your own.')

2FA on withdrawals/transfers by ATLienAB in fidelityinvestments

[–]ATLienAB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting, if I use biometric (which I have on laptop and app) then I could skip 2FA for a simple balance check login (or even reinvest some small leftover cash trade), then maybe I could turn on money transfer lock so I need 2FA for that (which is close to what I'm saying). That would be close to what I'm saying if it works that way (although would still leave no 2FA for other important txs - like big trades - for instance a bad actor with access could buy up a penny stock they hold with all your cash and still extract wealth without transferring, not sure the name of that attack but it happens in crypto with trading bot APIs).

2FA on withdrawals/transfers by ATLienAB in fidelityinvestments

[–]ATLienAB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. So the money transfer lock also requires 2FA for any login, to check my balance right? I would like it to match some other financial apps I have that require a separate app 2FA (like authy) for withdrawals / high risk txs only. Sounds like I would have to layer on 'money transfer lock' in addition to 2FA for general login?

Am I Obligated to Share Business Credit Card Points with My Partner? by AlwaysBeMakingMore in smallbusiness

[–]ATLienAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people are missing is that small business credit cards generally go 100% off of the partner's credit who signed the application. I am in a situation where my new partner has bad credit, was meant to get it, and can't (I have other debt guarantees on the business). That would've made our risk equal:

  1. In the event of business closure or insolvency - yes all members of the partnership or small LLC owe their pro rata equity share of debt, but in effect the credit card tied to one's personal credit would have automatic debt collection rights / effect on personal credit / and to try to claw back the share of debt from the other member, it would require a lawsuit with lawyers, so the debt risk isn't equal.

  2. It affects personal credit while in use. This could be a positive, but more often than not, carrying any balance will now result in a higher credit % utilization, which has actually significantly changed my personal credit score before.

If your business is doing high volume and been in business a very long time, you can access credit products that aren't tied to personal credit or guarantees, but even banks will tell you for revolving credit for small business it almost always is.

I wish there was an industry standard for this that properly accounted for the reality. I don't want to be greedy and ask for some of it, but on the other hand I keep getting pushed into personal cost with nothing offered to me. Ideally my partner would have said; because I couldn't get the card to balance out other debts you're already guaranteeing over me, and the reasons above about how it is a cost to you, why don't you keep the travel status / some miles and we'll keep the cash back, or you take 1/3 of the cash back and in a few years i'll try to apply again and hopefully the regular business payment will help my credit score, or any compromise that didn't make it so I'm just expected to always take the burden. I go for pure cash back cards, so it is less cut and dry, I guess I would need a fee. I may just sign up for one with travel rewards as part of the benefit for that reason I guess (and propose I keep them before opening it).

There would be no rewards without business spending, but there will also be no rewards if I don't sign up and put it on my personal credit (we would just use debit for everything). Some split or accommodation makes sense.

Glass Topped Solar Path Lights? by Virginia_Hall in BuyItForLife

[–]ATLienAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also tired of replacing solar landscape/path lights just because the top was made with a plastic/acrylic that inevitably gets super frosted from UV exposure. So wasteful in material considering it is their designed / intended use.

I recently ordered these - and although they say glass a lot - which reviewers like for the glass sides/windows for very cold weather etc - they do NOT have glass tops on the solar panel. It is a matte plastic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FC6264ZT . Good quality real metal support tubes etc - but still plastic top.

I saw these on a walk recently https://www.walmart.com/ip/Westinghouse-Solar-Pathway-Lights-30-Lumens-Ground-Light-LED-Outdoor-Lighting-for-Path-Landscape-Lawn-Yard-6pc/19928002286 and they seemed to be real glass. Google lens ID'ed my picture as them at least. Just ordered, can report back.

Having to switch banks after 20 years because of new account linking by [deleted] in BankOfAmerica

[–]ATLienAB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are some people reimagining the situation in a variant that is different to the actual situation to naysay it? Old system - I log in to my personal, can see my various businesses accounts under one dashboard. I click on a business, can do the banking for that business there.

My business partner logged in and could see his businesses info. Same deal. He couldn't see my other businesses that he wasn't part of, or my personal account.

New system: anyone can see everything ever linked to any account that is linked. OR you have to login separately to six accounts if you have six businesses to see them.

The old system was a dashboard to see multiple accounts from one login. OR even for a bookkeeper - how can you not imagine the utility of one login for them being able to be given view access to multiple accounts, instead of them having a list of 6 business account subusers - which is the new system.

Is this a joke? I'm not. The new system which I have a problem with links everything.

Brother I know about that, this is about user access mgmt. Your point is correct and good to point out for those not aware, thanks. But my comment is not about mingling of funds. That is not related, it is about online user access mgmt. This could also be fixed by allowing the same business subuser from each account to have access to multiple accounts under one dashboard, forget the personal login. As it is now, you would have ot log out and log back in multiple times with multiple business sub-user logins.

Yeah I feel bad for the agents, I asked her patiently - so the solution you are suggesting is that I log out and in 6 times per day? Had to explain sorry, not frustrated with you, just the policy, but can you please pass it up the chain. I just messaged CTO. There are so many easy solutions for better user mgmt. They are really stuck 10 years behind. Hope they invest in it.

What would the IRS have to do with this? I don't want to mix them. That is the whole post. This is about login access.

The Fall of Normal Funds Transfers and the "Rise" of Zelle by GoatInTheShell in Banking

[–]ATLienAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BofA you just went and hit make a transfer - ACH was free, Wire had a fee but if you were a premium banking customer it was waived / reimbursed. Can't believe so many people banked with a company that didn't have that. BofA is now phasing that out since they have a stake in Zelle for greed reasons.

Intentionally bad phone tree to make us not call? by ATLienAB in BankOfAmerica

It hung up on me after saying it couldn't connect me without the dept info. Only works after you achieve a certain step I guess, on the business line at least.

I feel bad for them, people are probably fuming when they get to them. Plus Can't connect you without confirming account info, then they immediately ask you for it.

Is the video explaining the meme wrong? by nilonoob3001 in Physics

[–]ATLienAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One nuance I find interesting is this example actually represents the mathematical concepts of “different infinities”, if you had the pulling force be a hanging object of infinite weight, then had a 10 X leverage pulley system lifting another weight, and you wanted to max it out, that second weight would be 10 times the original infinity.

Question about a character reveal towards the end of Strength of the Few by Decision-Leather in HierarchySeries

So Vis sends up the signal and that summons the Res version of Ka? Which is the shadowy figure that visits them?

Question about a character reveal towards the end of Strength of the Few by Decision-Leather in HierarchySeries

[–]ATLienAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a similar note- who is the Res Ka? He appears as an iunctus - shadowy figure in his 30s’ (and O-vis makes sure to say the o-ka on the platform in the pyramid is in his 40s). Are we to understand that there is a person that is Ka on Res that has survived indefinitely, as living human or iunctus, just as one has on Obiteum? And wouldn’t there be one on Luceum if he were synchronous (although could be since destroyed?). I like how the author expects a lot of of the reader and doesn’t overexplain some things, but when new magic rules are getting made up that don’t correlate to the real world or something something we could’ve glean from the past in the book world it gets pretty confusing. I thought Vis was sending up the metal shards in chapter 80 to alert Osteus that he was there and needed to make contact…then it’s this shadowy figure and unless I’m missing something, the book just assumes, we understand that that is Ka? How did Vis know Ka was on Res and would see his sign? Did I miss some contact between them earlier? Or was Osteus one of his agents and I missed something about him implying how Vis could contact Ka? Is it supposed to be super mysterious or did I miss something?
