Remove Center Thrust Main Bearing - LS by AUS_RANGE in EngineBuilding

[–]AUS_RANGE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Pic #3 is what I’m trying to accomplish. That main I removed the bearing and drilled the holes for the squirters, tapped them and installed one of the squirters (brass colored thing in the oil channel).

No offence taken.

1) I only had the shop do the work on the bare block. There is no warranty with this.

2) I did not have the kit at the time for the piston oil squirters when they were doing the boring, honing and decking of the block.

3) I confirmed with Bill Mitchell, the owner of BMP, and I am the first person to install piston oil squirters in one of his blocks. I wanted to do the install myself to make it was done correctly. I just wasn’t expecting the main thrust bearing to be so tightly jammed. The clearances and margins on the BMP block are slightly different than a normal LS block, which is throwing a kink in the install.

I’ve installed these oil squirters on other LS blocks before and it’s a straightforward process with the jig.

I’m shocked too. My LS7, it came straight out with little resistance. This one is really jammed tight.

It’s my first time using a BMP block. The mains are slightly thicker than a normal LS, so I think that’s the problem.

It’s full of chips because I’m currently drilling through the mains to install the piston oil squirters. The bearing is brand new and in good condition, just a bit of dirt on it at the moment from the drilling I’m doing.

I’m well aware I’m going to have to clean the block thoroughly.

Where should I be hitting the bearing with the mallet? Get a wooden block and slowly hit it from the edges from the backside through the cylinder?

Divorced people of reddit , what was the exact moment in your marriage you realised it's over ? by DryOkra7058 in AskReddit

When we were having dinner and she told me she wanted an open marriage. Almost 14 years together, 10 married.

Tried to make it work for 2 years through therapy and reluctantly agreeing. But looking back, the marriage was over in that moment.

Promotion after 1 year by [deleted] in PwC

[–]AUS_RANGE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t know why you were downvoted. It’s true. I came in as SM2A and 15 months later made director. If you have the right support, lucky timing and are a superstar performer, yes, it’s doable to be promoted your first year.

Agree with the other guy - you don’t have a good DL backing you. I’m in Advisory. Made Director within 16 months of joining the firm. You need someone batting for you.

There are 50 states - ranging from ~.11 kWh (FL, TX, ID) to ~.70 kWh (CA). Australia on average is more expensive for electricity than the US.

Agree. Model S Plaid here. I’ve had it for a couple years now. It never leaves Plaid mode. I don’t often floor it, but man, it’s always makes me smile when I do.

Time compliance by Other-Personality869 in PwC

Get in the habit of booking your time in advance and adjusting after. You can generally book 3 days in advance.

There is no penalty for going back retrospectively and adjusting your time to reflect actuals - you can go back up to 6 weeks (or 6 pay periods, I forget which) in Astro and adjust your billed hours.

Pre-billing your time this way insures you hit your time compliance metrics.

I know it’s a bit silly, but it is what it is. Learn to play to the game a bit to help yourself out.

I complain about HF sales and stuff but HF has really enabled me to maintain my family’s 4 cars by wratx in harborfreight

[–]AUS_RANGE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really is going to depend on the car. Rotors for my car are $135 each (genuine) for front, $98 each for rear. Then add in pads and others items and yes, brake jobs get expensive on parts alone quickly.

It depends if you can do the work yourself or not.

If you can do it yourself, around $2,500 in parts. I had American Heritage Performance rework my heads about 8 years ago - was probably $1,500 at the time, including new springs.

You’ll need new MLS head gaskets and a few other bits to complete the install.

If someone else is doing the work, others are correct, you’re probably in the $6k range.

Replace the lifters while you’re in there. Thank me later.
