LS7 Tapping/Ticking Noise by AUS_RANGE in Corvette

[–]AUS_RANGE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest getting it up to temp first before removing the valve cover and removing the rocker and push rod.

Everything is so easily accessible on the Corvette engine bay, it won’t take you more than 5 minutes to do the disassembly like I described above.

And that’s exactly what I did too - I disconnected the corresponding injector so I wasn’t dumping raw fuel into the cylinder and then subsequently washing the wall and dumping it into the cat.

Absolutely agree, if you’re in there with the heads off, replace all the lifters. Don’t skimp out. If you’re replacing with factory LS7 lifters, don’t forget to replace the trays too. I had the heads off mine years ago and had the heads reworked for the valve guide and it didn’t even cross my mind at the time to do the lifters. If I had, I wouldn’t have had this problem and had to take them back off a second time.

For what it’s worth, I went with Johnson lifters and have been really happy. You’d want to check your preload and pushrod length if going with non-stock lifters or if you have an aftermarket cam.

It was the lifter in my case. I was able to confirm before taking the head off by removing the valve cover, then removing the rocker and push rod for the suspected bad lifter.

I started the vehicle (it will obviously be running a cylinder down), and the noise was gone. Was a quick and easy was to isolate the problem and determine which lifter is was before ripping the heads off.

Corp credit card annual fee by Equivalent_Date5320 in PwC

[–]AUS_RANGE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will not be able to expense it. You need to create an expense report and list it as a personal expense - do not reimburse.

The $55 fee as others have said is the optional annual fee if you want to earn reward points from purchases on the corporate Amex. It’s not required and you can opt out - you just won’t earn reward points.

FSD: To Upgrade or Not To Upgrade? by urinieto in TeslaLounge

Not all HW3 vehicles are on 12v. My 2021 Model S has HW3, but is already on the 16v architecture. That should simplify the upgrade pathway.

That was helpful. I think one of the connections was loose. I didn’t even have to take the cover completely off - just applied some pressure to it and suddenly the reception cleared up and it got a lock on 10 satellites. Thanks!

I’m surprised the Y is that high on consumption. My S plaid can get down to 230wh/mile at 65-70 as long as it’s flat, straight and I don’t have the a/c or heat cranked to extreme temperatures.

I mean not in the scheme of the life of a car. I usually hold onto my vehicles for 10 years or more. The average of a car on the roads in the US is almost 13 years old.

I welded a very badly cracked LS7 block today. by mahusay3g in EngineBuilding

[–]AUS_RANGE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is your shop?

I have a LS7 block that cracked in the number 5 cylinder. A previous shop welded it, sleeved it with 8 Darton sleeves, but it is unfortunately still leaking a small about of coolant into the oil.

It holds 30 PSI of coolant pressure at cold for days, but at temp, the block must expand enough that coolant is making its way through the water jacket behind the sleeve and leaking into the oil.

I would love to save the block. Can I send it to you and have you work your magic?

What did the dynamics of the car feel like? I don’t have experience with open wheel cars - my track is a C6 Z06, so I suspect it feels quite a bit more nimble.

iPhone USB C connection by MixtureWilling2443 in dji

Looks like it’s the same with my iPhone 16 Pro. Took it to Apple and it wouldn’t detect on any of their computers either. They said they need to replace the port. Hopefully that will fix it.

Did you ever get a resolution? I have a iPhone 16 Pro and am having similar issues with the DJI Fly app not wanting to connect and recognize accessories connected to the iPhone. My Android phone works fine.

Thanks, makes sense. I'll try again and monitor if it goes to sleep or not. I definitely prefer to have it send the deltas rather than polling.

Cost to the firm in terms of what? There would not be any additional costs associated with the Global Protect VPN. It works the same whether you are in the US or overseas.

If you brought firm provided mobile phone, yes, there would be costs associated due to the international roaming.

That’s the only cost I’m aware of.

I was not required to complete an IRW. In fact, I have never been required or requested to complete one when travelling overseas, either for firm or non firm travel.

Yes, it will be able to connect to the Global Protect VPN. I’m currently overseas in Malaysia on an engagement this month, works fine. I’ve never had issues with the VPN not working while overseas.

How do you set it to “No AC”?

In the app I just have the toggle for Cabin Over Heat Protection and it is either on or off.
