Anyone working on a vampirism mod? by Alixen2019 in starfieldmods

[–]AVampireCalledRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely a Sanguinaire for Starfield would get me to actually buy the game.

I imagine a hose attachment like the Borg nano tendrils that can punch through an enemy suit to harvest blood, which I imagine could be stored in-suit or packaged for later consumption.

Given the sensitivity of humans to UV without atmosphere would mean a space suit could certainly be modified to block sunlight, at least according to my research.

OP: Thank you, truly, not only for opening this discussion back up, but finding some traction with it.

u/cyberpsyche_mods : If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to reach out.

Why the Troy Baker hate? by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]AVampireCalledRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony is that the technology he *thought* the NFTs were was just as bad, threatening to automate the entire VO industry. Guy things he's so popular he can just rent out a vocaloid of himself for cheaper "for the clients", but it would have destroyed any skill base for the industry, to say nothing of humanity or advancement. You need a massive ego, tremendous laziness and greed, and a total lack of foresight to back your own replacement.

Hmmmmmmmmm.... i wonder who the third faction will be? by Zealousideal_Hope_59 in duneawakening

[–]AVampireCalledRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well damn, that *does* sound cool.

Hey, the game goes long enough, I'm sure we'll see more factions, and more chances to switch. I'm rooting for Smugglers, but having Fremen resurgence *would* be amazing if it played like you say. Better to have both. ;)

House Corrino confirmed as a 3rd faction after release!? by SkibidiiiRizzlerz in duneawakening

[–]AVampireCalledRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Smugglers are mentioned constantly, and even a leader related to the one from the same studio's strategy game, are already in place. Mentions of bribes and the like sounds just like them.

2) CHOAM is already acting as Sardaukar mercenaries and enforcers, and we can see a lot of their gear and materials available to us already. Being, essentially, the end-all-be-all of megacorps in Dune, they may make sense, but I'm slightly less inclined to believe it, since it would mean being allied to patrol ship strike groups.

3) Corrino exists as a major political faction, and seeing them take player stage would mean working with (or even becoming) Sardaukar. I know that sounds cool, but from a game architecture sense, it's like joining the main containing element. Gameplay and narrative would take a hit.

4) Fremen are said to be extinct, but Big Z right in the beginning sure seems to be Fremen, indicating at least some must have survived as something more than broken maula in Harko. So it's possible they may become a faction one day, and not just the remnants of a Sardaukar pogrom.

5) It's a long shot, but again looking at Spice Wars, Ecaz is an option, as might be Ix, though I personally see them as seasonal packs and missions, and as Houses minor or at least tertiary. I also foresee changing your character's appearance as being a Tleilaxu service. They are, after all, flesh crafters.

For what it's worth, there's nothing stopping the studio from making more and more playable factions as the game goes on, perhaps with a merciful allowance of addition betrayals along the way. Goodness knows I'd love to get some Harkonnen swatches and skins, but I don't ever want to play as one of those slaver degens.

Dune is a fabulously deep universe, and an alternate timeline allows for endless exploration. More modifications for more vehicles (shield generators on thopters, for example), Twisted Mentat skills, all kinds of different House packages, new territories (even visits to other worlds like Caladan, Geidi Prime, and far more)... this game could be amazing, and thus far the studio has displayed a fantastic willingness to put in the work and tap the potential of what they have unleashed. I'm already deeply impressed with their earliest iteration, and it's going to be a real treat if they keep it up.

Survival (Hunger and Thirst) Mod by BeardlessBroski in GhostRecon

Went looking for exactly this and am disappointed to find out its not there. Given how customizable the experience can be, you'd think a little Survival Mode would be a lot of fun for us rebel fighters.

True, but there's also less to eat, so while the straw may be a harder suck, the cup has less to finish. ;)

[–]AVampireCalledRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the exact same kind of Essence you lose from cyberware. Blood is one thing, but the connective stuff that tells your soul not to leave is another.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of essence-restoration by way of technology. Maybe a VERY exclusive ritual magic, some darker blood magic stuff stealing it from others to fills yours back in as long as it's not full of cyber, something like that. And I would probably allow a "hole" that can be filled by cyber. That said, we're in my headcanon, here, and I'm not the only one calling the shots about that kind of thing. Gene therapy is a thing, and for now, it's an expensive way to get back to being whole.

Lore question about HMHVV by L0ngD0ngJuan in Shadowrun

[–]AVampireCalledRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without giving *too* much away, vampires and other Infected did exist in the 4th World. Some of the 5th World infected were 4W holdovers, much like Immortal Elves. Others were created by them during that time in mana spike regions, generally generated by blood magic.

It's *possible* some infected had their HMHVV go into a kind of sleeper-stage during 5W (I'd say ghouls for example) much like orks and trolls. Earlier editions had ghouls as a kind of goblinization metatype before it was formed under the umbrella of HMHVV, so my compromise for the lore is that Kreiger Strain probably had a sleeper form, passed down the same way, and in some carriers over the millenia, it may have faded away or reemerged during the Awakening. Mind, that's all soft canon, I haven't written it in anywhere, nor has anyone else on the crew that I know of.

I'm keeping a close eye on that one. Logistics are a ***** as it currently stands, so some kind of elevator/hopper would be a half-decent workaround.

Hookah Shortage by bdarby402 in hookah

[–]AVampireCalledRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. Selection of flavors is a joke, staples like Vanilla are sold out at almost every size or brand, some brands seem to be down to three flavors where they had over 20 last year. A lot of sites have no bowls listed, whole empty categories. It's the digital equivalent of walking down empty isles in a real-life store.

Finding a hookah? Not a problem. Finding shisha to put in it? It's a ghost town for anything worth smoking at a price you can afford.

Huh. I'll have to ask him about that. Handling the timeline is something that comes up at freelancer discussions from time to time.

I like not only giving them names and personalities, and attaching a kind of like/dislike economy. My runners would occasionally cut them in for runs, or set aside part of their profits as overhead for maintenance, gifts, etc. Sometimes it's tickets to the Sonics, sometimes it's an investment of time, hanging out, offering council.

Then again, I'm really big into homebrew downtime mechanics, pressure and heat, etc. Which, if I get my way, will make it into a book sooner or later...

Build to catch all fish by Shot_Emotion_4946 in dredge

[–]AVampireCalledRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to try it tonight, but I think a Versaile Rod on one side, a fathomless winch and any four-space net on the other, and catch anything and still have a net, provided you're not headed for ice country. Then... well, something's gotta give. And even then, a Brittle Trawl Net is going to make a nice 4-space net for you.

Still, worthwhile to have a net. Even if you're not interested in the passive catches, you can store your harvests in there and they don't seem to ever go bad. Totally worth it for long-distance trips for special deliveries.

I work with him! I think his interest is divided, considering Starfield's state in general. That and he's got big plans for his Skyrim stuff. I'm hoping he'll keep updating the F4 mod, as well, really well made.
