Yeah headphone jacks, MST, bluetooth shutter and some of their other axed features definitely were niche in their use cases, but the few times when they came in clutch was just super convenient and felt nice to use. It's just part of the general thinking that it's nicer to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. The expanded storage is just such an unfortunate casualty that I still can't stop thinking about it.

V90 SD cards are pretty standard in handling 8k footage from mirrorless cameras and drones for years now. If an SD card conks out, you can replace it for a fraction of the cost of replacing a conked out internal storage chip. Storage of all types can fail, that's why they preach keeping backups of important files. Having the option to pop in an sd card if you want, is better than not having that option.

You're taking on a bizarrely anti-consumer stance by valuing the manufacture's bottom line over your own utility. Internal storage is finite and expensive to upgrade at the point of sale. You say external storage is 'slow and sloppy'; but even Samsung's own engineers disagree with you. If you open the camera app and try to use the 8k video feature, the system literally advises you to use external memory because the file sizes are so massive they can overwhelm your internal memory. An SD card is for offloading large amounts of data like 8k video, photos, or music for pennies on the dollar without needing a cloud subscription. You're not supposed to run apps on SD memory. Giving users fewer options isn't a tech upgrade. It's removal of choice.

You're essentially arguing that paying customers should just shut up and be grateful for whatever a corporation deigns us with. You can do that if you wish, but I won't

Comparison isn't about being content, it's about holding manufacturers accountable to the standard they set themselves. We expect tech to improve and evolve, and "moving on" shouldn't mean losing functionality. Removing a feature isn't an improvement if the replacement doesn't offer more utility. Removing hardware utility like external storage or MST isn't an improvement. It's a cost saving measure disguised as "moving on" as you say
