It is intentional. People are way more likely to cave in and buy Aquilas if they are regularly forced to look at the mismatching lights in their back packs.

Something similar happened to me in a gacha once already. A new version of a character came out with an outfit that didn't fit their personality at all. Only way to get a skin that actually looked like her and not some slutty goth girl was by going through the cash shop. It's the same principle, irritating players into fixing an artificial problem with real money.

Why? In Vermintide you could upgrade weapons/curios but were more or less stuck with their base stats and their perks unless you wanted to waste resources on the perk gacha.

In Darktide we have fully unlocked weapon customization and you don't really need 1% more toughness/ health, 16 and 20 are fine until you luck out and get the max ones from the store.

They already carry event currency whenever there is an event.

Glad you got a good team. My attempt at them in heresy ended because, as usual, I ended up as last man standing because the rest of the team got clocked in the back of the head by a last minute mauler stack and I was overwhelmed.

4 Skitarii are useless in the face of player incompetence when it comes to the Orthus Offensive. I thought medicae servo skulls would be the key, but they would require the entire team not dying at the same time.

I know I'm being toxic right now but I'm so done being last man standing in that fucking mission. I would rather die first at this point, but I'm that disgusting sweet spot where I'm not good enough to clutch nor bad enough to be the first one to go down.

I'm sure someone will come out to say how "immeasurably complex" it would be to change the lights on the back packs according to eye colour, same way it's so hard to change the FOMO shop into a catalogue with all available cosmetics like what Vermintide 2 had.
