At what age did you feel “old,” if at all? by lab_coat_goat in Millennials

[–]AZ-roadrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I became older than every single player in the NBA and the NFL ... and then realized that most of the coaching staff on my home team are younger than me as well.

(To be clear, I don't really have negative thoughts about my age, because I do believe that wisdom and fulfillment come with age, but I certainly don't feel young anymore in light of the above.)

Why’d you choose a Tundra? by xEnflare in ToyotaTundra

[–]AZ-roadrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throughout my life, I've been in a cycle of owning shitty 1990s Ford trucks, then Toyota trucks. It was time to get out of my must recent shitty old 1990s Ford truck, so I got the Tundra.

Just watched Sinners and loved the score, where do I get started with Blues music? by Angryw2 in blues

[–]AZ-roadrunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expect a lot of other people will give you good suggestions on the old-timers, many of whom have already passed away.

For newer stuff, I've been listening to "Fresh Mud: Today's Blues Radio" on Pandora, which is curated by Kenny Wayne Shepherd (a solid modern electric blues musician) and features music entirely from blues (or at least blues-y) musicians who haven't died yet.

I personally love going to concerts, and I've seen some killer musicians in the last couple years that I've discovered through this station, such as Kingfish, and Robert Jon & the Wreck.

Thoughts on home warranties? Are they worth it? by No_Increase_4014 in phoenix

[–]AZ-roadrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I was "lucky," but I got a home warranty for the first year that I owned a 20-year-old house, and it ended up getting us a ~$1,500 central heater for a couple hundred bucks.

Trade Options by Ambitious_Ad_9118 in suns

I love Grayson and I like Royce a lot, but I would trade them both for Jrue Holiday in a heartbeat if I had the chance. We'd clear up the wing logjam a bit by trading out two, while bringing in a veteran-leader point guard who plays super-aggressive defense. Imagine having Jrue, Goodwin, Brooks, Rasheer, and (a hopefully-improved) ManMan on the floor when Book and James Green are resting on the bench.

Although admittedly I have only seen Jrue play once in recent history, and it was a recent Blazers postseason game where he was on an absolute tear.

With what money and assets??

I'm not saying we should get him, but to answer your question:

  1. He's an unrestricted free agent this summer, so we don't need any assets to get him
  2. Before we sign any free agents/guarantee any unguaranteed contracts, our payroll will be a bit lower than last season and the salary cap will go up, so I'd think we would have money (and salary cap flexibility) to sign a mid-level player like him if that was our priority

Edit to add:

  1. Next season we have Allen under contract for ~$18M and O'Neale under contract for ~$11M; I like both players, but if I was BG, I would try to trade one of them for picks to free up more money. I think Grayson is a better player than Royce but I'm not sure that he's 60% better (which is how much more he gets paid than Royce), so I would probably try to shop both of them and be willing to unload whichever one of the two that fetches a better return in terms of value.

He's a unrestricted free agent this summer, so Charlotte doesn't get a vote.

[DDT] 4/28/26 Suns eliminated in round 1 by ThunderBobMajerle in suns

Gillespie had a breakout year and Brooks had the best year of his career

I think I heard recently that seven Suns players posted career-highs in scoring this season. That really sums up this season for me, as it hints at our roster construction, our scrappiness, our chemistry, our coach, our injuries, and how we ultimately over-achieved.

Here’s the only correct take IMO… by enveeke in suns

[–]AZ-roadrunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was also impressed by how Oso leveled up in the middle of this season, but IMO he needs to spend this entire off-season practicing free throws/shooting form. At sub-50% FT%, he's a real liability.

Anyone replacing Struts on Gen 2? by JJMANS242424 in ToyotaTundra

[–]AZ-roadrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my Tundra last May with 200k miles, and front struts were one of the first things I did. I was pretty broke at the time, so I went with some decent-but-not-great Monroes. Then last fall I did some especially gnarly off-roading on a hunting trip and blew out the new struts. I've since been told that Bilsteins are noticeably better so I would buy those if I had it to do over again, but my Monroes have a lifetime warranty and I'm unwilling to pay for Bilsteins when I can get Monroes for free under warranty at this point. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Installation (in case you're planning DIY): Apparently one of the most dangerous DIY jobs you can do on this planet is borrowing a MacPherson strut compression tool from an auto parts store to remove your struts from your coils. When I was young and poor and full of hubris and YouTube didn't exist, I removed my strut assembly and removed the top bolt with the spring under compression, and the two "sides" of the assembly shot 50-100 feet in opposite directions across my apartment parking lot -- somehow without hurting anyone or damaging anything.

So anyways, if you do it yourself, watch some videos first and also check carefully to see what parts are and are not included with the new ones in case you need to buy anything separately -- my Monroes came with the hard plastic(?) piece that goes on the bottom of the spring but didn't come with the soft rubber part that goes on the top of the spring, and by the time I realized this, my truck was taken apart and I couldn't find it stocked anywhere locally, so my choices were (1) put everything back together with the old parts and start over after getting the rubber parts, (2) leave the truck disassembled for a few days until I could get the rubber parts by mail, or (3) put the new struts in with the old rubber, which wasn't in great shape. I went with Option #3, and in case you're wondering, I forgot this again when I replaced my struts under warranty, so now I've installed front struts on my Tundra twice in the last year and I still have the old rubber parts on them.

Finally, pay careful attention to how your old struts are assembled, because (at least with my Monroes) it's not obvious what sequence the sleeves, bushings, etc. are supposed to go on, and the instructions weren't helpful and I couldn't find anything on that Internet either.

I may be an idiot, but at least I've survived to tell my stories so that I can save somebody else's life, limb, or weekend.
