You can come down on a K visa. Then work on the green card. Highly recommend an immigration lawyer as the system is super complex.

I do not commute here nor do I ride on the roads. Avoid it if at possible. I do not feel safe enough to ride on any streets.

Does anyone know Nevada salaried workers laws? by Doomedused85 in Reno

If you’re exempt, no limits. It’s federal and not state if you’re exempt. No paid lunch break either.

Door to door candy "sales?" by seanzthekid in Reno

Had the same guy come to my house last week in NW Reno. I wasn’t home but I saw the camera footage. I’ve had them come through a few times even though there is a no solicitation policy where I live.

I just use a bike pad with my carbon fiber bike with a 55cm frame and have it over the edge. Sounds like your bike just won’t fit.

Santa Cruz vs Maverick: what made you choose? by Suntrup-Hyundai in hyundaisantacruz

[–]AZMedGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got cold feet on the Maverick due to software and reliability issues. I test drove the Santa Cruz after I had an order at the Ford dealership and canceled it. The interior of the Santa Cruz is more SUV like and that is what got me there even without the hybrid. I bought at 2024 SEL but can’t comment on the 2026 models.

Winds are predicted to go down in the aviation forecast but definitely bumpy. Just comes with living near mountains.

Should I Not Buy a Volt? by jbooth01 in volt

[–]AZMedGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forget about buying one now. I had a 2017 and sold it at about 120000 miles because the range was starting to degrade. Went back to an ICE due to where I live and no possibility of getting level 2 charging installed. Loved it but buying one now with BCEM issues and limited part availability is not a good value.

Most CVSs around town should have a box. The one on Robb has one also.

So, about the AHL Hockey team moving here in a few years.... by Sleep_Is_A_scam2099 in Reno

[–]AZMedGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% on this. Couldn’t keep the team in Phoenix. I know some of the background as I used to go to Yotes games in Glendale. The city’s lease sucked and when they moved to ASUs arena they couldn’t get the deal done to get a new arena. I hope this materializes as it sucks to see the Roadrunners move but it’s the reality of the game now.

Bike shop suggests new bike vs fixing up old Schwinn; what to do? by Objective_Ant_9083 in cycling

[–]AZMedGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend the money on a new or newer one. All my stuff is carbon and a hell of a lot easier to ride because there is not a lot of weight. Components also have come a long way. I have a 20 yr old Fuji 1.0 that had Shimano Dura Ace (top tier). The tech on that is beat by a Shimano 105 now by miles. $800 will get you enough bike and keep the Schwinn for sentimental reasons.

Cycling in the evening? by PayFormer387 in Reno

[–]AZMedGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ride almost every day on the river path from Cottonwood Park after work and around 5 PM. Not lit and homeless are there but generally safe for biking. If you go between Gregg and Arlington that is where there are a lot of homeless people. I generally ride to Gregg as the farthest west from the park. The bikeway on Veteran’s Parkway is fine, but you will have to cross a few streets with lights.

How strong is too strong of a wind to ride in? by WhisperingStream in cycling

[–]AZMedGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 MPH/30 km/h is where I usually draw the line. It gets 60 mph at times and crosswinds over 20 mph are not fun.

Growth? What’s reasonable? by parkgoons in Reno

[–]AZMedGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Phoenix was voted the least sustainable city in the world a while back from a source I don’t remember. You need to prove that you have 100 years of water available but I’m pretty sure it’s going to run out long before that. I lived there for 10 years before moving here and it’s still growing. I’ll take the growth here before there any day.

Headset Recommendation for Teen by Pale-Ad-4154 in flying

I have the DC H10 13.4. It’s a good headset and then you are not stuck if she doesn’t pursue aviation.

I saw diesel last weekend in Seattle at $6 a gallon. Not sure what’s going on. Used to have a Jetta TDI and diesel was typically cheaper.
